Northeast Expedition's 2016 TRDPro build

Today I did some modifying to the hardware on the Bajarack. Here's the photos of what I did. I added a high pressure sealing washer with a standard washer and then another rubber washer then added blue loctite. This way I know no water will go down the bolt from the top. The sealing washer expands when smushed and closes tight around the bolt's threads. Added some black silicone around the mount where there was gaps. This will keep water from going down into the mounting channel. I think I'm happy with my sealing job now lol.

When I went to Pep Boys for the black silicone sealant, I decided to get 4 of those Pilot COB LED 194 bulbs to replace all the door LEDs. The LEDs I had in there were too bluish and too dim. These new Artic 6500k COB LEDs are awesome and amazingly bright. Bought both packs they had. Will buy another pack for my license plate lights when they get more in. These were $14.99 a pack of 2.

Yesterday a buddy and I built a cargo shelf for the back of the 4Runner. It's not 100% done yet but it's close. I used the extra pieces of rubber mat to make inserts for the cubby holes that are on the fender wells.

been thinking about making one. What storage boxes did you use (the tan ones)?
 
Finally got around to putting my Overland Bound badge on the 4Runner. Took delivery of the Krazy Beaver shovel and ARB 2500 awning. Now I'm waiting on the Bajarack awning brackets and Bajarack axe and shovel brackets. I also bought more items to help finish up my cargo shelf but I've been too busy to do the modifications to it.







 
Tonight was a decently warm night and I decided it was time to go ahead and make those add ons to the cargo shelf/box. I added two tie downs at the back of the box and two tie downs on each side at the front of the box. Then I added turnbuckles to keep the box in place. Unfortunately Tractor Supply only had 3 turnbuckles I needed (3/8" x 10-1/2") so I'll have to find another turnbuckle at another TS soon. I also removed my fire extinguisher quick fist since I didn't like the way the extinguisher still bounced around from being on its side. I replaced those quick fist with regular sized quick fist and mounted my 2 D Cell Mag lite there. I then mounted one of the fire extinguisher quick fist to the driver side of the cargo shelf/box and put the extinguisher on it. Worked perfectly! I have a trick up my sleeve for the passenger side cargo shelf/box. That will come in a couple days.















 
It's been a while since I last updated my build thread. I added a phone mount to the dash, rotopax mount to the passenger side cargo box so I can carry around my 1 gallon water pack for emergencies and to keep the pups hydrated while out and about. I'm sure some of y'all were wondering, the seats still recline with the box in the 4R. I finally received the awning brackets and axe/shovel brackets from bajarack, so yesterday I installed the ARB 2500 awning and mounted my axe and shovel. Yesterday I also ordered up an AFE throttle body spacer. Still waiting on AFE to come out with a catback exhaust. I loved the way my FJ sounded with their catback. In the mean time of not posting or building the 4R, I've been working on the Trans New Jersey Trail. It's in the final stages and I'm getting ready to run the complete trail (450 miles) in a weekend. This will be the first of many expeditions to come in the 4R!

Just checked out your build thread. That rack is very cool! I like seeing products being machined and custom made to fit the users needs. I'm currently working on kayak crossbars for the bajarack. Now that the other accessories are on, I can measure out the spacing needed and start the custom crossbars.

You can probably get away with mounting a 6ft awning to the side of the stock rack. Might have to weld some brackets onto the rocky road rack to make it work but it shouldn't be too hard. The awning has 2 channels that the bolt heads slide into and then the channels keep the bolts from spinning as you tighten the nuts up. You would only need 2-3 brackets with 2 holes each for the awning.

Thank you and I love looking at all of the build threads here for idea's and trust me I am going to do the LED mods in my truck after seeing how nice and bright the inside of your truck is, rear shock skids, and I will be trimming my rear mud flaps. <-- btw this mod is so cheap anyone can do it.

No problem! I have a ton more things I need to do to my 4R but now that it's starting to be nice out, I think the mods might go on the back burner and I'm just going to enjoy life. I do need to get a hitch mounted bike rack soon though. I haven't rode in forever and need to get back into it. Your fat bike looks great. I have a hard tail entry level diamondback 29er
