Northeast snow storm, how are your Michelin Cross Terrains

Ths is my second Michigan winter with cross-terrains. I love 'em. They're very decent on snow and ice. No doubt something like a Blizzak would be even better, but the Cross Terrains come closest of any tire I've owned to being a true all season tire.
Mine now have 40K miles on them and still have 9/32" of tread remaining.

ha..i'll try to answer this one...unless you put snow tires on a 350z it's not goin anywhere in this shite with the stock tires. I had aftermarket 19's on my 03' touring z with s03 pole position tires and I got stuck in 2 inches of snow.
seems like alot of peeps here have had or still have 350z's. wierd.

I have the Cross Terrain on my 05 4Runner and find them OK ins the snow up here in Ottawa, Canada. I say they are as good as your going to get for an all season. I put them on my last Pathfinder because the original Bridgestone 689 Duellers were a deathtrap in the slippery stuff. I might as well been driving a yugo with slicks.
I did have on my last PF Winter Tires and Rims. Blizzak's, and they made the truck unstoppable. As long as those tires were touchin the ground you were movin.
I would love to put a set of Winter tires and rims on the new 4R but I can't find a winter rim that will fit.
Anyone with any luck on this?

If they even talk about snow/ice the Z stays in the garage. Loki is right the summer high performance tires arn't even that good in the rain. I think you would be in big trouble if the Z didn't have VSC. My Z is 1 1/2 years old and only has 11-12K miles on it. More of a nice day fun to drive car.

I don't know how the Dunlops got such a bad reputation on this forum..... I've been out in the blizzard with mine and they seem just fine. For an all-season tread design, they do well in deep snow. I managed to get through anything and everything.
I'd love to do a head-to-head comparison with 4Runners that have both sets of tires in deep snow.

I have to apoligize to all you Michiline fans, but there is better all season tire out there. First off there is the Nokian WR SUV. This is an all weather tire, it even comes with the winter symbol on the tire found only on snow tires. Also the Nokian Vativa is a great tire, probably equal, if not better, than the Cross Terrain all conditions. The WR SUV is quite exspensive, but it is the best tire you can buy, IMO. The Vativa is usaully priced slightly less than the Cross Terrain. Sorry I don`t have a new 4Runner to compare to, but my boss has them on his `03 Ram 1500 4X4 and the WR SUV`s are amazing. He scares the heck out of customers when he drives them around.

Since mine has the michelin's and I have not been in the snow yet, I picked the michelins based on what other owners of both tires were saying on www.tirerack.com It would be great if you could find another 4runner owner in your area with the michelins and do some comparisons and let us all know the results. Glad to hear your Dunlops are doing the job for you.

I had the Dunlops on my old rig for 2 years (including winters) and they actually did me just fine. Not the best traction by far, but definetly good enough when coupled with the Runner's 4wd systems.Hitman said:

the 4runner ran like a champ with the michelins... i was out during the worst part of the storm and went through a highway at 40+mph without a problem.
i even got my truck out of the parking space that had over a foot of snow that was plowed in front of it. i just locked the differential and put on 4LO and it crawled right out.
I LOVE MY 4RUNNER.

I had the dunlops on last winter and the Revos on this winter. The dunlops were ok in snow, nothing great but not that terrible. The revos are definitely better. They have better traction with the more aggressive tread and seem very stable. So far I am pleased with them.
