Well it seems much worst that what it was lol he ended up sucking a bit of water and had to hold the RPMs up for some time after he was out so it wouldn’t die. I would like to say he had more than a GL worth of water coming from the exhaust afterwards. Over all good time

Last minute I know. My friends and I have been watching this crap weather and decided, fine, let’s finally go since it’s so deep into summer. Then all my friends back out last night. I’m solo and not super thrilled about going it alone since there’s probably a ton of mud but we’ll see. It’s too nice of day not to do anything.

I’m out for July 20/21. Booked that weekend already

Thinking of heading to Bad Lands this Sunday with a Jeep friend. I just found out there’s a Jeep event going on so I’m not super thrilled about that. My experience with Jeep guys hasn’t exactly been the best.

Scratch that. I had a conversation with a Jeep guy last night that made me feel like my apprehension about going that far just to listen to Jeep guys do Jeep things isn’t worth my

We haven’t locked a time in yet but I’d personally like to hit the roads super early and miss all the morning mess. Get some solid wheeling in and hopefully miss the evening mess on the way home. I’ll talk to the other guy and see if he agrees.

Definitely wont be able to make tomorrow, I'm a M-F drone and I have 2 weeks of vacation (at a new job) starting on 7/20 so cant really use any political capital to force an extra day yet.


I am off for two weeks from 7/20 - 8/4, and I'm at home with no plans the 2nd week of that so if you get something lined up between the 31st and the 4th I have nothing really holding me from going. Assuming my better half doesn't threaten me over watching the toddler solo all day...

I had to bail on the plans for today. I got into my snorkel project late yesterday and foolishly thought I could knock it out no problem. It’s as big of pain as everyone says. We are going to reschedule the trip since my rig is still in pieces. I’ll post back up. My buddy is using the time to install new springs anyways so it became an upgrade day.

Yea, the 4Runner was my 'family car/fun car compromise' to deal without my string of Camaros for a few years. I can deal without a sports car, but I cant deal without motorsports.

Trying to sort out how to attach the dune flag for Silver Lake this week too, so annoying there isn't a quick bolt on solution. Headed to MI on the 20th, think we're going to hit some ATV route NE of Silver Lake Saturday, looks super simple, more of a logging road than anything else, to get my feet wet a bit, and then Silver Lake Sunday morning.

Going to pull the Predator steps off beforehand too. I don't think they'd get hung up on anything, but I hate how low they hang, they need to get replaced with some silders sooner rather than later, but that step has been super handy a few times already...

I'd be game for a Badlands run in the beginning of Aug with my boys ages 7 and 5. Possibly my daughter too who is 3 but most likely not. Honestly out of the 3 kids, she will probably be my gear head. Been taking my boys to the badlands for about 2 years now.


Been thinking about bringing my stock 03 Sequoia (with some 32 AT's) out there. For the past 9 years, I have brought my stock 99 out there. Currently my 3rd gen is in need of a major suspension overall. On the fence about throwing a radius arm set up under for 35s or ditching it for a 100.

This weekend, we leave for our annual summer trip to Breck. Will be out there for a week with the Sequoia. First time bringing a 4wd for the summer trip. Hoping to run Tin Cup and Mosquito if they are open and some other passes in the Breck/Keystone area.

I’d be a bit worried about a stock height Runner with those predator steps. Those things do hang down a bit. I installed N-Fabs and haven’t even thought about them when I’m off the pavement which is good.

As far as the flag, I have a cargo basket and have just zip tied the flag up there when I’m at a park that requires it. If that’s not an option, you could always drill a hole into a crossbar on your roof rack and use that as a mounting point. You’d have to shorten the flag but it could work with some ingenuity. Otherwise they have magnet based ones and some other options. Let us know what you end up doing.

Ran with a group last year that decided to do a stocker run instead on the usual trailer queens. We had a stock 1st gen tundra access cab. It may have had only 31s ATs iirc. It did really well for the long wheelbase. It definitely got striped.

Ill see how the sequoia is after CO. If it’s still fairly clean, may end up taking my 3rd gen.

Headed out on Saturday morning to break in the beast a bit, first we're gonna head to the Little Manistee ORV Route.

Totally boring and vanilla, but gives me a chance to press all the buttons and flip through the 4WD options with basically zero repercussions. After that we'll hit Silver Lake for some sand throwing chaos.

Snagged some basic recovery gear; snatch strap, couple of shackles, rear hitch receiver. Along with a decent air compressor and deflater. Left the Predator steps on for now, we'll see how they do, I don't think there's anything that could snag them at either place.

Nice! I have the same compliment of recovery gear with the exception of two additional shackles for up front. I also bought the X-Bull Recovery Tracks (think Maxx Trax at a fraction of the cost). Haven’t had to use the tracks yet and hopefully never will. I’d bring a socket wrench with you if you don’t have a basic compliment of tools already just in case those predators become an issue. I carry a toolbox with basic tools and some off road necessities in case something happens.
