Nose dive while braking

My 98 Limited nose dives while braking, even if it's not hard braking. It almost feels like the rear brakes need to be adjusted, but I thought I'd check here before working on it. What do you folks think? Thanks in advance for the replies.

It will almost always nose-dive under braking because of the fact it is a truck/suv and has ride height to provide ample clearance.

If it's feeling really squishy, that means it is probably time for new struts and/or springs...

My '02 SR5 was very front biased when I got it. I hate dealing with drums so I had a local shop clean them and adjust them up. It helped a lot with everyday mild to moderate braking. However if I slam on them the front will squat down and the wheels will lock up. I think you are on the right path. First, make sure you rear brakes are in good order. If they are adjust them up and see if that helps.

Make sure your rear axle seals aren't leaking fluid all over the rear brakes too. Even if they're adjusted properly (which I believe these are self adjusting) brakes shoes covered in gear oil are worthless.

Took off the rear wheels and adjusted the brakes. It's not nosediving anymore. The axle seals are not leaking so that's good. Thanks for the help guys.
