So I met this guy here locally who works for a Classic Car Restoration business. The compound features every make and model you can think of when talking antique or classic cars! About a few weeks ago, he gave me a full tour of the classic car division, but today I got to see the Industrial Landcruiser division!
The site boasts a huge facility that is completely dedicated to modification of imported Landcruisers for Mining purposes. I wasn't able to see the actual plant, but got a chance to see some of the wrecked Landcruisers, and got some shots of the brand new ones that will be prepped for future mine duty!
Here's a few shots:
Anyone want an axle?? THese axles were pulled out of various Landcruisers before they were crushed, and will most likely sit there on those racks for several years to come!
Here's a full body and chasis, just rotting away....
The cab of another:
Check out the leaf packs on this bad boy!!!
Got Grill????
A transport cab for another LC used to carry workers, check out the huge bumper and grill guard just sitting there on the floor!
Most if not all of these trucks are cut apart, and modified so that they can be dismantled, transported on crates, and then re-assembled under ground. Check out the mounting brackets for the 2 halves of the frame!
Another chasis sitting there.... great project for someone!!
Here are some shots of the New Landcruisers that will be modified. Some of these will have the roof cut off, and have roll cages welded in, with other brackets and such installed.
Check out the Factory Snorkel on this one!
After they are chopped up and prepped for the mine... you have a pile of parts similar to this sitting around:
These units are all diesel trucks, are used and vinned for industrial use only, and cannot be driven on the streets here in Canada! What a waste!
