I ordered an addicted offroad front bumper for my 91 4runner. It didn't fit. I need to cut into the body to get the bumper to fit against the brace I welded to the frame. Is it understood that modifications to make to something fit may be needed or should it be listed as such in the web site when ordering? Not a blast of addicted but rather educate me on if I should be a little ticked? When I emailed they said sometimes you need to "modify to get it to fit"... shouldn't that be listed on the sales page?

IMO, When you order a part like that it should be bolt on, unless stated otherwise..

Did you not weld the brace into the proper place? Pictures would definitely help us understand why you're having to cut into the body.

You shouldant have to cut the body... any chance you got one built for a BL instead?

I watched Scottie install mine right in his shop. The whole process took about 30 minutes for him and his guys to do. They had to trim some of the blastic body pieces, but that was for looks, not fit. Not sure why yours didn't bolt right in.

Scotty's stuff is spot on. Before cutting into the body you should have sent pictures. He is very reasonable and helpful. There are ways to go about doing business with someone. Whenever possible talk to him directly.

I know you said this wasn't an attack, but when someone is looking to buy his products they might not after reading this. Could it be the bumper? yea its possible but unlikely with the amount of people using them without problems. Could it be your rig, possible too and unless you bought it new. You never know what could have happened with the previous owners. Now he is in Moab through this weekend so give him some time to reply.

I did email scotty and his reply was "yes, sometimes on a second generation you need to cut the body to get it to fit". What happens is it hits a metal cross brace at the top edge of the winch platform on the bumper so it won't sit far enough back to be flush onto the mount plate. There is no way the mount plate was welded on wrong, I bolted it in place first. I used 4 washers on each bolt (with longer bolts) to get it to fit till I communicated with Addicted. I need to use an angle grinder and cut the body brace to allow clearance for the bumper.

I'd order it again for sure but would like to have known about this before hand. Don't hesitate based on this post, just understand some additional work may be needed to get it to fit.

The more I think about it the more I was off base. Expecting someone to make something that fits all of our toys flawlessly is probably not reality.

My apologies to Addicted. I do like my bumpers!
