Not being able to move shift lever over far enough to pull back into reverse

Hello BlackWorks Inc!

Please share your experience with the following concerns at the link below. My main issue is not being able to move my shift lever over far enough to pull back into reverse. Would that be a Mechanical or Electrical issue (before I tear my console down again looking for restrictions? 2007 T4R SR5 2WD Automatic 54,000 mi..

I had a grand prix that had some wires to the neutral safety switch chewed through. Same symptom as you, plus no backup lights, no trunk release. I've no idea if this could be your problem or not.

Also I am curious, if you engage the "Shift Lock Override" (the little button in the top left corner of the shifter mechanism) and try to shift does the shifter move smoothly? As some have mentioned there may be an issue with the shift lock solenoid. Can you post a video of the issue? that might help as well, it's hard when we're not there to actually see it/play with the issue.

I knew I was “Over Posting” due to becoming concerned of not being able to get reverse or any gears. Thanks for being Tolerant and combining info.

1. “Is Bump A Delete Option “for future needs vs double posting Etc? Which was my Bump LOL!
2. "Shift Lock Override". Could be a Lifesaving Feature I did not know of until now. I saw it and since read info in the Owner’s Manual.
3. I have gotten reverse 1st try the last 20 + tries. “All is smooth once I get to the slot to slide back into gears”. Should I go back in the consol and look for restriction, or wait to see if I have brake lights or try the Override when this occurs again??? To try and find some causes of this matter.
