Nothing Happens when I turn the key

I noticed that on my 03 V8 4runner that I recently purchased. On my 07 when I turn the key in the drivers side handle it would unlock the doors. When I turn the key it does nothing. I also noticed some different behavior from the door locks than the 07. When I get out of the vehicle the rear doors remain locked and I have to hit the fob again to unlock when getting things out the back seat. A bit annoying but more secure I guess?
