Ordered a few parts today. Going to rebuild most of the front end eventually but for now I ordered OEM LBJs and OTREs, and Mevotech front end links. Going to buy the ITREs with the lifetime warranty from NAPA.
Also going to pick up sway bar and steering rack bushings at some point and then get to work.

I hope to post several pictures of the process.

Welp, got everything re-assembled except for the sway bar. Turns out the 27mm bushings from summit are about 1mm too big. They're supposed to be an "exact fit" for my particular 'runner, but they apparently aren't.

Anyone else have this problem or know where I can get the correct size bushings?

Here are some pics with the running boards removed. All of the suspension parts I mentioned earlier are installed, except for the sway bar bushing. Still gotta find some that are the right size.

Good to see your bringing a beat up runner back to life. The frame rust looks mostly fixable, lot of sanding and surface prepping in your future. Might have missed it, any plans on fixing the paint?

Thanks for the reply. I still haven't decided what I'm gonna do about the rust, may just sell the thing and buy another one when I gather the money. It was a freebie anyway. Could use it as a donor, engine is impeccable.

May plastidip the hood and roof to prevent the paint from peeling any more, don't think I'll paint it.

In any case, I absolutely love it and it's got me hooked on 4Runners. :driving:

Any comments are welcome.

Ok guys quick question, I'm looking to install a trans cooler on this thing since the rad seemingly had never been flushed when I got it (!!), and I'm sure the pink milkshake is just around the corner.

Will I be fine with a B&M 70268 or should I go up to a 70264?

In my part of TN it gets up to the high 80s to low 90s in the summer and hangs around 20-40 in the winter, FYI.

Thanks again,

NR

Hello again. As you might have seen in my engine bay picture, the terminals that connect to the battery are in really rough shape. Can anyone recommend a good set?

Also, bump for transcooler question again.

-NR

Hit up your local walmart for terminals, save some coin. As for the tranny cooler go B&M.

But which B&M is the best choice? 70264 or 70268? There is a $10-$15 difference in price, obviously the 70264 is a better performer but do I need one that big?

-NR

Good question.

My main thing was avoiding the dreaded milkshake, went with the 70268 in the end. Many owners had them and no issues plus when I went to order Summit didn't have the 64 available

Considering buying about $150 worth of tune-up items (spark plugs, fuel/air filters, o2 sensor, etc.) from RockAuto. It seems my total cost buying there is about half what it would be buying from somewhere like NAPA or Advance.

Would you guys advocate buying those things from RockAuto? All of the items would be from brands I trust (Denso, WIX, NGK, etc.). Basically I want to know if they are reputable enough that I wont have to worry if I have to return something.

Thanks!

I've ordered from there a few times. Never had any problems.

Ordered a load of stuff from RockAuto. Should be here by next weekend. :biggrin1:
