number of door unlock beeps

anyone else notice that if you hit the unlock button on the key fob twice to unlock all doors at just the right speed it will only sound the *beep beep* only once? it's a really narrow window so i've been trying to practice it everytime i unlock my car. it requires almost the same speed as a double click on a mouse. i just find the beeping four times to unlock all doors a little annoying sometimes.

You know what I hate? Not having a friggen rear tailgate unlock button either on the fob or somewhere convenient like the door jam. Damn, I hate getting out the car, trying to open the tailgate and then realizing it's locked.

Thinking about changing the programming to kill the auto-lock feature.

look in your owner's manual, and you will see instructions on how to program your 4Runner to unlock the doors when you shift into PARK.

The dealer can re-program the system to unlock all of the doors(including the hatch) with only one press of the unlock button. I like it that way much better. The only problem I had was that my after factory alarm started going off after they re-programmed and couldn't be disarmed. I had to disconnect the power to the alarm. I had to have the alarm re-programmed also.

I have realized that too. I think you have to hit the button very fast without even lifting your finger. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't. I like when it works because I don't get a headache!!

Yup, you really have to do it quick or it'll beep 4 times.

I think I'm one of the few that likes the sound of the piezo. I like to get "confirmation" when I press a button, or else I think I didn't push the button and go and do it again. The sound is just right, I don't like how some manufacturers use the horn and those aftermarket chrips are annoying.

It threw me off too, as my '01 Highlander always beeped four times when the "unlock" button was pressed twice to unlock all doors.

The first time I received the abbreviated beeping on my 4Runner, I thought I hadn't pressed the button hard enough the second time. Of course, I pressed it twice again, until I realized what was happening.

Also have to agree that I like the beeps, as opposed to the short honk of the horn that almost all other manufacturers use. I've noticed that Acura, BMW, and Subaru (and, of course, Lexus) also use piezo beeps for their keyless entry acknowledgement.

yeah, i prefer the piezo over the horn too, much more classy. but sometimes i need to be in stealth mode.
