Ny turn for the infamous p0446

So the CEL came on a while ago and it said p0446. Well I cleared it after I checked my hoses and haven't had the time to do a valve check or smoke check on the charcoal canister.

Anyways, my light didn't come back for another 800 miles so I assumes it was gone since eberyone gets it every 3-400 miles. Today it came back on and I'm trying to figure out what parts I need.

Does anyone know what the part numbers are for the valves or how many hoses I might need. I saw a pack of silicon hoses that I might try out but I can't find a diagram for my v6. As for the valves, I'm tired of finding all these acronyms for the parts lol

Can anyone help me out before I decide to go to the stealership

Block off the canister vent and do a smoke test. There is a valve reffered to as a roll over valve ontop of the gas tank. These are getting very common as these trucks get older. Most likely your issue. Replace the valves gasket also.

unplug your purge have(the electrical) and disconnect the hose going to the canister, with the engine running you should not have any vacuum on this end. With the purge valve unplugged,(car still running) take your dmm and find which wire of the connector has power, use a T-pin, or safety pin, or something of the like, and back probe the other wire. plug the electrical back in, using a jumper wire jump your back probe to ground. If the purge solenoid is good there will be vacuum going through the valve doing this test. if there are visible cracks in any of the purge hoses replace them with PCV/FUEL hose. Incorrect purge flow can either be no vacuum during purge, or vacuum during a non purge cycle. a bad gas cap can cause this also, if you have a locking gas cap its bad. If there are other codes along with p0446 thats when its time to be looking at a charcoal canister.

[MENTION=151945]LXSTECH[/MENTION] do you have the part number for the valve on the gas tank. I have checked the other 3 that I can access. They all open and close when power is applied appropriately and they seal as they should. Also do good measure I swapped the charcoal can. It was old. Got a good deal. [MENTION=148927]Toyotayoda[/MENTION] I'm not sure I completely get what you said but I think I have the general idea. Let me ask you this. If I take the gas cap off and have a release of pressure and honestly it's not loud but it isn't hard to hear. Is this normal or something is wrong?

Update !!!!

Ok I've been monitoring this for a while now and without throwing money into this or buying unnecessary parts this is what I have


So if I'm driving a long distance the code or CEL doesn't come on at all. That's right if I'm going on a long drive the code doesn't pop up, I've taken her to LA and not once did the code pop up

Now, if I'm driving normally to work and school and just doing normal city traffic the code pops up every quarter tank of gas, I know it's weird I can't seem to think of what it could be but I have the scnguage and clear it to keep track of it.

I called the local yota dealer and they can't tell what it could be, all they said of course was to start buying parts because it could be anything

I know it seems unusual so if anyone has the same problem please help me out, I might have to start dumping my tax return on it and buying random ass parts.

P.S I checked the vacuum lines and none of them are cracked or split, hope I can figure this out soon the light gets annoying after a while
