OBD II readers with bluetooth

does anybody have any experience with/recommendations for any type of OBD II readers with bluetooth for wireless use in conjunction with an iPhone or Android?

I'm using the torque app for android with a bluetooth plugin and it is by far the greatest $30-40 I've spent. It will give you a read out on anything the ecu has data for. Works great on my Xoom tablet.
 
I got the $100 kiwi bluetooth OBDII guy off amazon - I ponied up a bit more cause it had better (more consistent) reviews. Sometimes the cheaper chinese ones no work so good. But for $60-$70 savings, it's probably worth the shot.
 
I hope they work I just bought this one:

Was the cheapest that did not ship from China and had the lights facing in the correct direction.

As noted by the4kbeast, the only real ELM327 is V1.4b there is no v1.4, v1.4a, v1.5 etc... These are all fake chinese copies of the original elm software v1.3 (i believe) that did not have encryption. All the newer software is encrypted so all the ones that say they are v1.5 99% of whats on ebay and amazon are fake/ unlicensed.

There's the Torque Lite app that works just fine and it's free. Between that and the Torque Pro it's all the info you'll ever need.
 
i bought this Scantool and use the Dash Command app with my Android. it worked fine when i first got it, for a few months, but recently i haven't been able to connect to it with my phone at all, so i can't get it to work, but this issue might be withe my phone and not the plug-in.
 
Has anyone tested this out with using a ScanGauge at the same time? You can get a OBD Splitter (which I have) and I was wondering if I could run my Scangauge and have this connected to my tablet at the same time?

I know for a fact you can't run two ScanGauges at once. (tried it and failed...)
 
I'm using the actron u scan device. Love it, I got it for Christmas a couple years ago I think and haven't had any issues. It gives live data including the graph data for your o2 sensors which came in really handy when diagnosing a o2 issue with my 5.3 swapped Chevy.

The only thing I didn't like about it was you have to pay to use the apps. Works for iPhones but I don't know about android
 
Anyone use a wifi adapter instead of bluetooth? I use my phone to connect to my stereo via bluetooth and I'm concerned about not being able to use both simultaneously. If the WiFi OBD adapters work the same way, it seems like a perfect work around.

I really wanted to test this, so I picked up a Bluetooth OBDII Reader from Amazon and put Torque Pro on my tablet. I'm still learning and exploring Torque, and so far I really like it.

Draw back is just as I suspected.... it won't work with Scangauge and a splitter. Torque will get it's first readings, but won't update. Scangauge works normally. I unplug the Scangauge and Torque will automatically update it's values and start working normal.

So now I have to decide which to use! LOL I'm leaning towards Torque....
