Hello All - New to the forum and semi new to the state of Florida. If you haven't already figured out by my profile picture, I don't own a 4Runner, I have an Xterra. (I sure do like the new 4Runners though :whoo:)

I moved down to South Florida less than a year ago and found out there is little to no 4x4 Xterra's and wheelin in South Florida is almost non-existent

Although I found a couple of Xterras I figured I would branch out and make some more friends of a different make.

Now to business, a group of us will be driving up from South Florida to ride in the Ocala Forest and I figured I would check to see if anyone else wanted to come along or lead the way?

I will be driving up Friday night (the 21st) and "camping" both days at a Holiday Inn express, since it will be too hot out. Us south Florida people will probably only wheel half a day on Sunday then head home.

Let me know if your interested in the Ocala trip or interested in wheelin at other, future wheelin events

Thanks

If you are not camping then be at this location by 8:30 so we can all meet and give high fives then hit the trails at 9am.

Yep, I'll be coming straight down I75. I might have a jeep buddy that'll join. Not sure if we'll be brave enough to camp OR not.

Sweet sounds good. In regards to camping, I'm camping, why aren't you? Sounds like you need to put on your big boy pants and camp like I am at the local Holiday Inn Express...they are having a pancake special for the month of August, they will be providing pancakes from 8PM to midnight..Yum!:guitar2:

And sweet, the more the merry-er

If it's for $10/night for the camp site, I'm in! "Camping" at the Holiday Inn might be an option... but I'm cheap, so we'll see.

A word of caution. I live here in Ocala and if you are speaking of the Holiday Day Inn Express in Silver Springs which is the closest to the forest, I priced 1 night there a few months back and they wanted about 140 per night! I would instead recommend the original 50's motel right across the street. Someone recently remodeled it to it's original glory and if you have any appreciation for original Florida this should be the spot. I'm not planning to make the ride, but I live near there and would be willing to swing by and instigate a group discount for you guys. Here is there website. No affiliation. bgsunplaza.com

Was it during an event, because the holiday Inn express is $98 a night and that's without checking for online coupons or deals yet.

The BG place is nice cause its closer, but they want $89 a night and that's without a pool and without pancakes and free breakfast. But I also have 2 adults and 2 small kiddies.

Thanks for the info though, I will pass around to the single people as a close option.

Wish I could make it but we have too much family crap going on right now. @op have you been to Lazy Springs?

Hello, no I have not been to Lazy Springs, I have heard of it though...but it sounds like we may have an idea for an event in September :hello:

Damn, 1 week to late for me. I'll be going down to Ocala this weekend and I'm planning to hit the trails either Friday or Saturday.

I've never been there, any suggested trails? I have the Map from the NFS, but local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

So after my saturday of wheeling in the south ga swamps, I may be postponing my next excursion until my new steel bumper gets here to replace the mangled mess that's on there now... :noidea:

Never been there, my advice is to download the app called "Maplets" for your phone then download the Ocala map through that app and use that. The app cost $2.99, but the maps are all free. Best $3 you will spend.

Boooooooo, no problem man.

I also updated the first post with all the meeting spot details

What happened and where did you go?!

A buddy's girlfriend's uncle has a bunch of land out in Ray City in the middle of effin' nowhere. At the point that I "bumped" into a tree I'm pretty sure I was where no vehicle had ever been before. The uncle thought it'd be funny to send me down a few "trails" thinking he'd have to come in and pull me out. To his surprise the only time I got stuck was when I was doors deep into a pond that I shouldn't have gone it. There's definitely stuff out there around here, it's just knowing someone that knows where you can go and not get shot at.

I may still be down for next weekend as the damage was really pretty minimal. The corner of the bumper that took the hit just got bent in a little and ripped the little piece of the flare off. It does scrub on the tire as I haven't figured out how to bend it back out. One of the rear flares also snagged on something and broke the mount on the flare. I'm hoping to get those epoxied back on tonight so I can get it back on.
