October Camping Trip, The Cove #6

Look what was delivered today!

Mountain House is sponsoring our breakfast Saturday! We should have enough for everyone who wants free hot breakfast of either Biscuits and Gravy or Breakfast Skillet (my fav).

We will make breakfast as needed for people from 7:30-8:15, this will give plenty of time to eat and get ready for the morning trail ride.

I could use a couple volunteers to help pour the hot water into the pouches.

This thread has been real quiet than in past years.... I attribute this to a few things...

1. [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] 's absence.
2. The fall feeling more like summer.
3. The sheer amount of garbage new threads that get started every day that have already been discussed to death... that we now have to wade through.

I'm excited to go camping and meet you all. I'm excited to see those of you I haven't seen since last year and I'm excited to hit the trails and sleep in the dirt. I'm excited to see the gall colors and freeze in my tent.... I love all of this.

I hope you all are as excited as I am....

Also.... free Saturday morning breakfast?!?! BBQ Saturday night put on by GT Peace.... did I mention they're making up t-shirts for us? Plus.... two contests with prizes?!

AND.... $100 worth of firewood donated to our group!

What's not to be excited about?!

I'm bringing home made cookies for the Saturday BBQ.... what are y'all bringing?
 
I'm super stoked. Hoping we get in early enough for the morning ride this time. We literally just missed it last year and only got an afternoon ride in.

I planned to have the trip THIS week and I have my vacation time set aside as such- so as expected I won't be there next weekend. However, I am going to take a break (I got to get camping!!!!) and take my youngest tomorrow and Saturday...to The Cove! I called Will and we will be @ Camp II #27 like always. If anybody is around stop by to say "hi". No trails this time, just Daddy/daughter time and fishing. It's her first real camping trip!

Now then...I am pretty much done with "panic mode" and things are settling down again for me and the family. I will update my thread soon with all my "adventures". Let me just say I keep finding out how useful my 4Runner is! It's a beast.

I will miss all my friends this year, but I'm sure we will be catching up soon.:thumb:

Once again, thanks Corey for taking the reigns- you are a great friend!

Each time I check the weather it changes drastically. Here is a fun comparison over the last week or so.

So... who knows what will happen at this point. Hah!

You should have plenty of room on camp 2. Right now it's just me and Gracie (8 yrs old) here in the entire site. I let her sit on my lap and steer all the way to camp#8 this morning. She's having a blast!!
 
I work weekends so I've been missing out on this trip since joining the forums. But I used my second round of vacation to take off the first 2 weekends in Oct for 2018 in hopes it will be scheduled for one of them!

The Cove event is usually toward the end of October. There is a big jeep event at the Cove at the beginning to middle of October every year that we schedule around so the trails are empty for us and it's quiet.
 
**Last Minute Reminders**

Ok crew, we are at just under 40 trucks. If you cannot go, please let me know so I can give the Cove a solid number.

We are still in Camp 2.

Saturday is a PotLuck style dinner, hosted by GT Peace who is bringing the burgers and dogs. Please bring something to share.

We need trail guides, so those of you that have been before, if you're interested please post up here. (Spy45, Apex_Overland, Scott@HighTech, Sleeter). Please let me know.
