Odd noise from rear brakes (in the morning only)

I did rotors and pads all the way around about 8 months ago. Bled the breaks in the correct order, actually bled them twice just to be safe.

In the morning, my rear breaks make a good squeeling sound then after I hit a couple stop signs it goes away. Breaking seems ok, the noise just bugs me.

Wondered if any of you had the same thing happen after you did rotors and breaks?

Funny you would mention this. I have been having cold brake squealing as well since I replaced pads and rotors last fall.

I have a tube of this red stuff, "Disk brake Quiet Compound" Apparently you smear a bit of this (it's like a low-adhesive caulk) on the back of the brake pad where it contacts the caliper and it reduces vibration.

"Brakes" by the way... Anyhow, your rotors are bare metal and quickly form rust when introduce to any environmental moisture (especially over night). The noise you're hearing is that surface rust being scrubbed off. I'd bet the sound is worse when you you're braking while reversing.

Is this avoidable with different rotors? I used Centric rotors and pads from Rock Auto.

No way to avoid surface rust on bare metal aside from living in the desert. lol

I just find it odd that my factory rotors didn't do it but these Centric ones do, oh well, no biggie I guess.

I haven't determined a rhyme or reason to what rotors do or do not make the noise even after working service for 4 brands. lol

Mine did that for years and it didn't matter what pads I used. It would only do it in the cold morning when I reversed.
