OEM Audio + 5th Gen 4Runner audio system

watched the video twice last night, think i'm ready to bang it out today. debating if i want to install my sound deadening at the same time. Its hot out, so might be rough to get done at the same time.

Install was super easy overall and I have never done any audio installs... the hardest part for me was feeding the cables up under the glove box and over to the back of the head-unit, space is very limited. The smaller hands/arm you have the easier.

I did not install any sound deadening, I was debating it... It is so easy getting back to the speakers I may do it if needed... but so far so good.

I heard it helps for over all road noise too
 
Does anyone have any pictures of the subwoofer installed? I'm trying to see how closely the color matches the factory black. The pictures on OEM's website seem to make it look darker and glossier than the factory plastic trim
 
installed mine today. took ~3-4 hrs. My yellow power cable was sleeved into the harness and came out with the radio harness plugs. Had to rework the sleeve and put in some extra work.

Great sounding so far. can't wait till the front door speakers get here!

Youtube video was a excellent guide.

Hardest part, as mentioned is the radio harness plugs getting fed through above the glovebox. Everything else work and fit as described.

My power cable was sleeved into the harness as well. Had to cut it out of the harness a little ways back so that there was enough to make it through the firewall and to the battery. Everything else was very straight forward - and the video was extremely helpful.

thats exactly what i had. put some extra wire loom to be safe

guess i wasnt the only one
 
I wish it wasn't 110 degrees outside, day and night, here. Or I had an air conditioned garage. I want to finish this up so bad but don't want to melt while I'm doing it.
 
this is insanely overpriced for what you're getting. speaker replacements, dsp/amp powered by what looks to be 6 awg, and a shallow mount sub with enclosure?

recommend another plug and play system that is cheaper?

fyi, i dont think TRD PRO like us that pay MSRP or more should comment on insanely overpriced for what we are getting.

Speaking of overpriced, you didn't seem to mind buying an overpriced 4runner (TRD Pro). Show me another completely plug and play system that is the same price.
 
Does anyone know the reasoning with the subwoofer placement? Why couldn't it be on the other side? My Trail has an empty pocket there.....

they are working on a dual sub version if there is enough interest.

not sure if most / all 4runners have the outlets on the passenger side, would need relocating for a sub?
