I missed that part of the thread so thanks for pointing it out. Not sure why they felt the size of the original magnet was an issue but that explains things. I am going to further explore upgrading with Focals and a new amp with speaker level inputs like the JL Audio RD400/4 along with the Taco Tunes wiring harness. That was my original direction. I could add a sub later if I think it needs more low end. Love the OEM A+ plug and play aspect, sub enclosure, and the amp mount but at 1700-2000 it needs to be great for me to feel that it is worth it. Hearing so many reviews that it is just improved but not great is not what I was hoping to hear.

I listen to classic rock, alt rock, country and bluegrass 90% of the time so I definitely don't need or want every one at a traffic signal hearing subs thumping in my truck. Just good clean sound with bass that has a solid punch is my goal. Plus space is a at a premium for me. Thanks for all the input.

I installed their full meal deal last summer and personally think it's great for what it is. In my opinion it is probably best you can get keeping the original head unit intact let alone the most classy and OE-looking bass enclosure I've seen. IMHO you can't discount the work they've done tuning their DSP amp setup to actual 4runner cab and if you add the second dedicated sub amp you are at an ideal config for playing the exact types of music you list as your favorites. The last step as I have written earlier in thread that takes it from 90 to 100 in my opinion is bypassing the head unit DA converters by using a nice FLAC player plugged into the AUX jack. The only thing I can't debate is the price. It's expensive... but to me its worth it. I literally enjoy this every day. Just the like the air conditioner I spent big bucks on to install in my house gives me pleasure when I walk inside from a 90 degree summer day into a 70 degree house. (OK that analogy is a stretch but that just happened this weekend so its the same... kinda):bowl:

Thanks JC. I'm still on the fence. I have been talking with Daniel and he is really on top of things. Seems to be great to work with. I could put together a system myself as I have done this multiple times in my younger days. It's been a while though and time is a big consideration. I definitely agree on the source. I dug out all my cd's to improve the sound and the quality, even with the stock system blows XM, my i-phone or streamed music away. I use Pandora premium and the quality there needs help too. Have not tried Tidal or Spotify premium yet. Getting a Hi Res player for FLAC files is definitely on the list. I'll post what I end up doing and the end result. Peace out.

Getting close to placing an order on this system and trying to decide if I really need the separate subwoofer amp. I doubt I would add a second sub. Anybody just running the single amp and satisfied with the sound or has anyone gone from the single amp to the dedicated sub amp and really feel it was worth it?

Get the extra sub woofer amp, I got one an glad I did. I really love the extra bass. The 4Runner is quite large inside the cabin. The amp comes with a gain control knob. I installed it on my front dash underneath the head unit.:banana::banana::banana:

This 100%. The FLAC into AUX really makes this system shine.

I finally made a decision. Love the OEM audio plug and play aspect but I decided to do something different. Focal IS 690 TOY front, Focal IC 165 toy rear doors, Hertz DCX-130.3 in tailgate (couldn't justify big $ there). I'll install these myself with some Dynamat in the doors. Plan to Power everything with a JL Audio xd700/5 and use the Audio Control LC 7i to clean things up from the factory head unit. 75 x 4 @4ohms for the speakers and 300 @ 2ohms for the sub. The amp and line converter will both fit under the driver and passenger seats. The sub will be a 10" Jl Audio micro sub. I listened to it and the 8" and they both sound really good. I can remove it by disconnecting the rca's. Super easy if I need the space. This will all end up being very close to the cost of the OEM A+ system with the extra amp for the sub. I'll give a review once I get everything installed. Super excited!

Do any of you guys have a picture of the subwoofer installed in a T4R with 3rd row seats? The rear cargo floor is about 4-5 inches higher than in regular model. I'm concerned that the subwoofer enclosure is much smaller for my model.

Saw this one on the IG account. I am pretty sure they have one for the passenger side of the vehicle also.

Has anyone ordered the system with 2 subs? It is now available per website but have not heard anyone mention it.

I heard it at Toyota Fest and was thoroughly surprised. Pretty good for 8s. I purchased the system at the show but I'm waiting for the 2nd sub option for current owners. The single 8 has it limits where you hear distortion but I'm hoping the 2nd sub will help there. Still pretty happy with the system though.

Received the full OEM Audio + Reference system with the dual sub option on Tuesday. I ordered on July 28 and received it on Aug. 13. I got the wiring ran and amps and subs installed last night before I had to hit the sack. I should be able to complete the door speakers and tweeters tonight to give a full review of the system. I’m no audiophile so my “review” will probably be pretty basic. If there is anything you’re specifically curious about let me know and I’ll try to answer.

Here’s some crappy photos of the dual subs. There aren’t many photos of the new passenger side housing out there yet so I wanted to go ahead and share. It doesn’t seem to fit quite as tight and perfectly as the driver side. Sounds like there are some rattles with heavy bass from that side. Granted, I basically threw it in at 11pm and have not velcroed either sub yet. I’ll have more time tonight to play around with it. The OEM electrical outlet plate fits PERFECTLY into the sub housing and remains completely functional.

The bass is intense when given full power. Almost too much for me as it overpowers the rest of the music. I can’t wait to get the full system installed and see how it balances out.

Once you do get it fully installed i'd be curious to know your thoughts on how one vs two subs sounds, I assume you can disconnect one of them fairly easily to perform testing.
