OEM Front Bumper: Cut plastic lower piece for more ground clearance?

I think I saw a picture a while back of a 3rd gen 4runner with the older style (not fat lip) oem bumper in which the lower black plastic piece was trimmed off leaving only the top chrome piece.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has done that and could post a picture?

Seems like a nice cheap way to increase front approach angles and doesnt look too bad either. Might also allow for future winch mount possibilities.

You dont have to cut it, just take it off. But I hate the look, thought I would like the look but it looked really bad, not to mention the entire lower portion of the radiator is exposed and can be damaged by road debris, I drive way too much too worry about that. Another problem is when running trough mud it gets everywhere, more so than with it installed. Ohh and it doesnt madder about approach angle, because I hit the tow hook right when I hit that lower valance anyways.

I found this online. The owner has cut off the end sections leaving the center section to protect the radiator.

Here's what it looks like without it on my t4r

The ends of the frame sticking out are kinda ugly. I mainly did this because i'm going to paint that bottom piece black.

Yeah, I saw yours a lil while back and loved the way it looks like that. Been very tempted to do that.
