OEM NAV no steering Wheel Controls

Hey guys, I just installed an OEM Nav in my 04 4runner, and everything is working great including the backup camera, but there was nowhere on the back of the head unit to plug my steering wheel controls into. It really sucks cause this is one of the main reasons I bought oem over aftermarket. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I bought it on ebay, and the number on the front is 17007.
Thanks,
Ben

All of the OEM nav systems in the 4Runner are E700*. It could be an older unit that doesn't support the steering wheel controls. Can you post a picture of it?

If it's the E7007, there should be a receptacle on the back for the steering wheel controls. The only plug that is different is the nav mic/camera plug (which is now combined in one plug). I have the same nav radio and recently installed it and my steering wheel controls work fine. I'm at work right now, but I have a lot of info at home. If you want I can send you links etc. Just pm me if you want.

Ill post a pic tomarow of the front, but i dont think i have time to pull it all the way out. It is definately not the E7007, it looks a little different, the 4 buttons on the bottom (audio, display, trim, open) are all in the middle of the bottom of the unit, not spread as far apart as on the E7007.

I was thinking it might be an older model but im pretty sure i remember the label saying manufactured in july 2003, which isnt that old that it wouldnt have the steering wheel controls.

what about on of those eclipse (since it should be made by fujitsu ten) steering wheel control hookup module thingys? would that work?

I really hate being without the controls.
Thanks again
Ben

Yours might be from a different Toyota application (Car/Truck). If I remember right when thinking of doing this change all the 4Runners should have an "e" as part of the number.

Yea i guess it is from some other toyota, I would just think they all would have inputs for steering wheel controls.
Mark, it looks like yours only the JBL logo is not under the volume knob it is on the bottom to the left of the audio button.
Im going to email the guy i bought it from later, i really dont want to send it back and be without a radio, i did that for 2 weeks already and it sucks.
