OEM Replacement Front Bumper - Which One Do I Want?

My front bumper is bent down on the driver side from the previous owner hitting something. I want to replace it because it looks like sh*t (see pictures), but I just want to get the same kind of bumper that's on it now. These are the ones I found on ebay, I'm just not sure which components I will need. Also, is there a better place to buy this from than ebay?

Well they all match what you have, but none of them are OEM. Not sure what your question is? You can probably buy an aftermarket chrome bar local to you and save the shipping costs. Also I would keep all your original plastic if it isn't damaged, much better than that taiwanese crap.

You can even get 96-98 shorter style bumper, some people prefer them on non sport 4runners. Personally I would go to a junkyard and get a real original bumper instead of a possibly poorly made aftermarket one.

I guess I'm just not sure which of the ebay assemblies has all the components that I will need/want to replace. I'm not sure if it's just the chrome part that's bent, or if the mounting bracket for the bumper is bent too. My lower valance has been trimmed on the driver's side only because it was rubbing after I put larger tires on. And, yeah, I know they're not truly OEM, just trying to find a cost effective alternative with all new components.

You want the clean OEM one at the pull your self junkyard for like $50. Aftermarket ones like to rust and usually are even thinner than the original soda can metal they use on the bumpers.

All the non factory bumpers on Amazon had poor ratings from people that bought them. So I spent the money on Toyota parts.

I saved a whole bunch of money and bought the aftermarket front and rear bumpers. One year later...surface rust...you can't even try and scrub bugs off..it scratches the chrome!

Well that's bad news. Guess I'll be checking the junk yards & craigslist

It looks like I can get the chrome front face bar, filler, mounting brackets, and valance from RockAuto for about $165. I'm not sure if the mounting brackets have been damaged, but I know the face bar, filler, and valance all have damage.

Are these pieces easy to take off & put back on?

And are parts from RockAuto the same low-quality stuff you get from ebay or Amazon?

I have not puchased body panels, but i have gotten things like tail lights, headlights, and i liked the quality. I would say they are better quality than most ebay stuff. JMHO

If you want it to look perfect and have matching gap between the bumper and other parts OEM is the only way. Before I got CBI bumpers I got a piece of the rear bumper of ebay and it didn't fit for sh*t. However, if your not anal about parts looking factory then aftetmarket is the cheaper way to go for sure.

Based on the pictures im almost certain your mounting brackets are fine. First route id take is hit the local self-service junk yards (cheapest route and you're gonna get oem quality), next id try the auto recyclers (a little more costly then the first route but they'll pull the parts for you, usually they'll warranty their parts. And again you'll be getting oem quality, not that cheap aftermarket crap that will rust or peel in a year. Or last resort buy aftermarket and hope it holds up.

Thanks for the feedback about the mounting brackets. I'm gonna keep checking Craigslist & the classifieds on this forum, as well as the local salvage yards for a little while, & then, like you said, go aftermarket as a last resort.

I think thats gonna be your best bet, i forgot to even mention craigslist or the classifieds those are also really good resources because people are gonna be selling perfect condition bumpers as they upgrade to off road bumpers.

Front bumper repair possible?

Hey guys, since I still cant post my own thread I figured I'd post here. My bumper is bent in from the PO and I believe the mounting bracket is bent as well because the bumper sits close enough to the tire for it to rub. Is it possible to just buy a new mounting bracket and bang out the chrome on the bumper? I'm not concerned with it looking perfect. I use the truck mainly to go snowboarding or hiking. Thanks

Can someone tell me the name of the bottom piece holding the fog lights. Never seen it before and would like to source one for my 4R if possible

Yeah that piece, but is there a brand name for it, a website that sells it. I don't think it's oem.
