Here's mine with Black Powder coat:
Keeping the stock wheels is the way to go IMO, they are such good looking wheels.
For a Black runner i say go with a bronze or gunmetal finish, unless you enjoy the black on black look.

How much did your rims cost to have powder coated? The paint is chipping and bubbling on my 6-spoke sport edition wheels. Though I'd love some new wheels, I can't afford that right now.

When I got mine done it was $50 a wheel and I have had absolutely 0 problems with them after two years.
Of course price is completely based on what a local place does. Definitely the way to go if you like the stock wheels and like how it looks.
i like the bronze look i had it on my black wrx in the past before but i feel the bronze looks gives a very sporty looks which i dont think suites my 4runner. when i think of my car i think that it is not afraid to get dirty and its big and mean.
i like the chrome looks ive been seeing on black trucks but i realize it looks better when there is chrome on the car itself.
the 2004 4runner doesnt have chrome on it so im leaning away from chrome now.
i just saw a car with gunmetal rims and it looked good being a all black tacoma.
unfortunately the only colors i see rustoleum selling in the high performance spray brand is steel graphite and matte black.
do you think graphite would looks good? i guess that does come close to gunmetal.
i like a little contrast so im staying away from matte black or gloss black
any other suggestions??

I'll post pics soon, but I have a set of FJ rims out for Black Chrome PVD with a clear Acrylic powder coat on top and then I'm sending out my OEM T4R rims to get powder coated with a black low gloss texture - it is called 'Lava' and was just approved by Chrysler for some 2013 models.

BRONZE!!!! Heres a pic of My NSX that I used to have. Bronze compliments black better than anything.
BTW, Javelin, I love that NSX!!! That's one car on my bucket list!!! One day I'll have one :boink:

I went with the easy, flat black plasti dip. Love how it came out!

My son wants to paint his Subaru wheels black, and I've been thinking about painting the wheels on my black 4R, maybe black. Hadn't thought about bronze, that does look great. I just can't get excited about black rims, just me I guess but it looks boring.
I have a powdercoat place that does industrial parts for me, they'll give me a great deal on wheels, but I'd rather spraybomb. I did my old Land Cruiser wheels, and they looked great years later when I sold it. Powdercoat requires taking off and re-mounting the tires, and I'd be without my wheels for several weekdays to a week.

I plastidipped mine for the hell of it, and with the black brushguard, roofrack, etc it looked okay, but I still prefer a "brighter" wheel. I guess the "steelie' look isn't for me..

Thank you! I just thought all black would look silly (look at the rear tire). I think I will powder coat these when I get the money. I guess some aggressive wheel cleaner ate through the clear coat and is making the paint bubble and flake. For now, I like the sound of a $9 can and 8 hours of down time haha

My 04 with a spacer lift, and plasti-dipped wheels. I can snap more this week if you want.
Very nice! I like the debadged white with black accents! Hard to notice the lift though, the asphalt is too dark.
