finished the project.. ended up just taking out my DAC switch so i had it right in front of me..
took a while to get the Z bend staple to work... it has to be perfectly straight to catch the guides or whatever you want to call it..
what ended up working for me was cutting like 8 staples together in the Z pattern.. made for a much straighter staple in the end and worked on the first try..
I cut like 6 staples individually before that, but couldn't get any of them to work..

I too had to play with the staples quite a bit to get it right. The best way as stated above is to take apart another switch (ie: DAC) to compare your staple to make sure its the same. I started by using the pictures but I couldn't get it quite right. Another thing that can help is by sanding the ends of the staple. Mine had small barbs after cutting them and the barb doesn't glide on the plastic as well. I used some high grit sand paper to smooth them out. It takes some patience to get it right. In the end I used the DAC pin in my VSC switch and the staple in the DAC switch. Not sure why it worked better that way but it did!

I had to do this exact thing. Custom 'z-pin' with custom straight pin wouldn't work and would just jam, but go halfsies and use one custom piece with one factory piece in each switch/button and they both work just fine. Though I used an FJ aux light button for the swap. Glad to see someone else had to do the same thing, I thought I was just inept at fabbing tiny fragile pins (maybe I still am, who knows).
I should add I also used my Z pin from the DAC switch in the VSC switch and used the staple Z in the DAC switch as most of you did also..
all in all very happy.. had to do some trouble shooting even though it is so straight forward.. lol
the vsc off switch has a more pronounced click this way now compared to the DAC switch with my staple (I'm assuming just stronger metal than the staple I guess..
