There is a much more slim-line OEM version that my mom had on her '99 but it was so close to the hood it was hard to clean behind and bumpstops were mandatory and as soon as my mom lost one of those it started rubbing the paint real bad so now she has the AVS one which requires no bumpstops.

Tip: Just to share with you that if you hear any whistle sounds thinking it's from the OEM shield, it's most likely coming from the top black weather strip area located near the very top of your windshield. In my case, a small amount of permatex clear silicone windshield/glass sealer ($5 on amazon) sealed things up and took care of the annoying noise.

I actually ended up buying one from the dealer and went through the install last weekend. I would strongly caution against buying one without the mounting hardware unless you can get it directly from Toytoa. You may want to check with the dealer as I am not sure if you can order up just the mounting hardware without the shield (mine came as a kit).
Instructions for installing the kit are here (http://toyotapart.com/PT427-89011.pdf), and you'll quickly see why the mounting hardware is a pretty key item for installing the shield. (see post below)

Price from the dealer was about $70 after tax. It looks fantastic too. I would very much so recommend that you buy from the dealer or online and avoid a used piece. The plastic is very clear and has a nice new shine to it.
Toyotapartszone.com currently has the shield for $67.21 prior to tax/shipping.

Note that no Toyota part numbers are listed for any of the screws (you need 4), inserts and washers (total of 12) or the rubber bumpers that will keep the shield from messing up your hood (you get 5, but only need 4).

I stand corrected... It looks like you can just buy the mounting hardware... Toyotapart.com has it listed as part number PT427-89011-HW. I'm not sure what comes with the kit, but it's going for $6.19 on their website. Also, the whole kit is $68.48 at Toyotapart.com

When I bought mine it had rock chips all over the front of the hood. Instead of spending $40-$70 I spent $8 on Bedliner spray, taped off the front of the hood and covered it up. I am not at a computer with my pictures but will post them when I get home tonight if you like.
