Off-Road Lights mounted to Bumper?

I haven't talked to him since he lost his sanity and got married. I need to get down there to a race, it ain't like I know the operations manager or anything and couldn't get GREAT tickets!

Mounted to Hood itself?
Momo.75, I like your idea of using brackets, but I'm afraid if I put the lights forward of the bumper, they'd get bashed by some other driver backing into them in a parking lot.
Also considering Colemanfu's concern that his lights, mounted to the bumper, didn't give the hood enough clearance to open, unless he tilted his lights forward each time.
So what about using brackets, mounted to the underside of the hood, (above the grill), that would come down, and protrude through the bottom of the grill, where the lights would be mounted. Essentially an inch or so higher than if they were mounted to the bumper.
This way the lights can be next to the grill, going up with the hood, when it is raised, be back far enough, and be out of the way, when say you wanted to raise the hood and work on the engine.
Yeah, it would make the hood a little heavier, but probably ok?
Just thinking.

I am not too worried about anybody backing into them since I am that guy you see parked out away from everything in parking lots. I don't take up two spaces, I just park away.
That is a good idea about the hood mount, but there would be a wiring issue. I am sure it would be figured out pretty easily with some looking.

Sounds like you get to park in nicer areas than I do.
I work at Hollywood Park, (horse racing track), and the people come out drunk and angry that they lost their money, and do all sorts of things in the parking lot.
I'd mounted lights, years ago, onto my Z71 chevy truck, that protruded just as far as the bumper, and they were bashed in within a week.
The wiring? I guess I'd just mount the wires to the side of the hood, and then come down to the PIAA relay.

I have been riding the fence too. they look good, but i haven't decided if I want to get into that project yet.
I have been in the garage most of the day giving my truck the Griot's treatment. i just finished the polish stage and was about to put on the first coat of wax. I am always amazed how smooth it is after clay and polish. She should pick up an extra 10-15 hp after this.....

I was looking at this link and came across this light mounting kit. If you scroll down, it is under the "Off-Road Challenger 710 Progreat" section. I have no idea what is up with that lip thing. I am not sure how it mounts but it looks like it might mount in the same area. I would love to see the brackets.

Momo.75...I picked up the Hella 500's you talked about (way back when) today at Pep Boys.
I had an old existing pair of PIAA Series 40, but the gaskets were history, and the bulbs burned out. The cost of getting the replacement H3 PIAA bulbs, and then using silicone or something to seal them back up, made me decide to get the Hella's.
I figured for the roughly $70, it was hard to go wrong, and they are nice and slim. Didn't realize they were plastic, but so what....they look great, and won't rust or corrode. (I live at the beach)
I've decided to put them up on the bumper, for protection reasons alone. I'll post pics when I get them mounted in the next week or so. Got some nice OEM lighted switches that should fit the unused holes in the dash.

I pretty much did the exact same thing with mounting it on the beam that runs behind the bumper. My friend owned a welder so i used the piaa 1400 series and welded straight onto the frame. i wish i had pictures to show you guys but the car is in georgia right now with my brother.
