Well we officially listed the Tacoma for sale.
Trying to decide on the Offroad or Offroad Premium. Or a used Trail vs Trail Premium.
Options Id like:
Heated Seats. Ive never owned a car with them. My wife's new GTI has them, and they are comfy.
Options I dont care for:
Leather. I have dogs, with toe nails.
Sunroof. I dont need one
Should I just look for a Trail/Offroad and then do seat covers and wire in heated seats? Do you regret one vs the other?
Honestly I think the seat adjust-ability might be the winner for me. Ive got back issues and the SR5 Premium I test drove was incredible over my Tacoma. Ive never been 100% comfortable in the Taco.
Im not sold on the KDSS - would it cause an issue if I lifted it?
Only mods Im interested in are basic lift (like the TRD PRO), TRD PRO Grille, and the wheels.
I doubt Ill ever go offroading, but Ive found myself needing a locker before at our property - hence why not looking at the SR5.
adds a rain proof vent for when traveling with gassy dogs (and wife)
Sold my Tacoma because the seats killed my back. Just drove a thousand mikes today from Montana to California in my new SR5 Premium with the 8 way power seat. No back problems. Well worth it if you have back probs.
If you are over six feet tall, the extra headroom in sunroof-less models is nice.
But so is driving in the summer with sunroof open and rear window down.
If you can get them down a bit the OR Premium is easier to consider. I just picked up a '18 ORP $1400 under MSRP. No KDSS, no sunroof.
Can I ask what you got it for?
Plus I really wanted the heated seats because living in the mountains its nice to have that little bit of extra warmth in the morning.
this is a great point to make. I'm 6'4 and sat in an OR with sunroof the other day and dang...my head was about 1/4" from touching the roof. Could you lower the seat and recline back to accommodate? Sure. But that's uncomfortable. I ended up with a ORP without sunroof (and no KDSS). So much more room without the sunroof. For taller owners, it's a huge factor to consider.
I sold a sr5 premium to a guy who was about 6'4" and his head was literally touching the roof. Not really sure why he went with it, especially after the sales manager was a prick. But he loved it! Looked uncomfortable as hell. Makes me happy my 03 limited has height adjusting seats. I'm only 6'1" though.this is a great point to make. So it sounds like the Premium is the way to go and would make more sense for us.
Now I guess I really need to weigh the SR5 vs the Trail/Offroad.
