Off road rocker switch wiring

Hey guys, I bought a new switch for my Hella 500's and tried to wire them up but now the lights won't turn on. I'm guessing it's something in the wiring but I'm not sure what. One thing that did happen was I took out the wire from the switch that connects to the inline fuse, and it would make a 'humming' noise whenever I touched the wire or hit against anything else. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it but that was the last time the lights worked. Any advice would be appreciated!

Something isn't wired right...

What do you mean "stock switch?" How did you wire your Hellas, because there wasn't a factory option for that so you must have had to run the wiring that came with the kit if there was any, that being said the relay could be bad, but we can't do anything without a diagram and/or picture of how you wired it in.

The rocker switch that came with the lights. I ordered a new switch from OTRATTW, and when I tried to put the wires on the new switch the lights worked the first time, but after I unplugged the wires again and tried to reconnect them they suddenly stopped working.

Also, before switching the switches I had absolutely no problems with the lights and wiring.

Have you tried going back to the original switch? Maybe it's the new switch itself that's the problem.
 
try unplugging the wire going to the relay from the lights, then touching the one coming from the battery with it to see if the lights work when the lights are directly connected to the battery and the relay and switch are out of the picture.

If that works, then we'll at least known that the problem is in the switch wiring or the relay. Next you can connect a wire from the battery (+) to the input from the switch on the relay (with the light wire plugged back in), that fire the relay and should light the lights if the relay is working right, which would narrow it down to your switch.

A test light is a small light with a ground wire connected at one end and a probe at the other, that can be used to check for proper power/ground in wiring. They're a few dollars at the parts store and can be key in solving small issues like this, although we may be able to solve this without one.

edit -and you did check the fuse between the positive and relay as well as the positive and the switch right?

Yes I did, I took some pictures I'm not sure if it'll help or not. Also, I can't seem to take out the wires from the relay. It's tough to get out and I have no idea how I would go about taking them out. Photo Album - Imgur EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/2mOQ2Fe.jpg

your colors are confusing me... can you elaborate?

We had to take some wires off to make some wires longer. So the blue wire hooked up to the relay is ground, red that is hooked up on the relay is on the + side of the battery, black from the relay is hooked up to the lights, and the yellow is hooked up to the switch.

From the switch, the black is ground, yellow is to the relay, and green is to the + of the battery.

The black you see that's hooked up to ground with the blue wire is coming from the lights

Also, I added in another picture in the post.
