Off road!!!

I got to go off roading yesterday! Handcart Gulch Trail was in TERRIBLE condition after the recent blizzard up there. Here are some pics and all comments are welcome! This was stock everything proving that no lifts needed for even some of the rougher roads. We were VERY VERY fortunate to have skid plates though.

wow! those trails look awesome! cool to see what even a stock 4runner can do.

I used to do trails like this stock but with a lift it makes them easy without dragging. It is unbelievable how much 2.5 more inches of ground clearance helps. It also really helps approach and departure angles. Also my BFG all terrains give me a little more confidence about cutting a tire. Glad to see you are using it for what it was made for.

Ya we were on it saturday too. It may have been the redcone/webster pass trail, we couldn't tell the difference or where to turn. We started the main ascent around 4:00 but had to turn around. Some guys told us to turn back when we had the chance because the road had fallen through farther up. A trip for another day I suppose... When did you head up?

that peak is Red Cone, your taking the pic from the Webster trail..
yes, it can be very dangerous, coming down that is a shelf road, being just wide enough for one rig, and the sides are almost stright down for thousands of feet, so if you hit the brakes and start to slide, it can be very bad. If you put everything in low, and do not hammer the brakes, you will make it, tons of people do Red Cone every year, its really well known.
I wouldnt suggest a newer wheeler to try it, its scary. lol

Webster Pass trail is also referred to as "handcart gulch" in many 4wd books and maps. Same trail.

You know your probably right but you wouldn't believe some of the places the 2wd's will go with the right equipment on it. I really surprise myself sometimes on places were i would think i would easily get stuck but can actually get through it.:jump:
