I will check with my bosses, (I am on an alert response time until the end of March.) If I am good to go with that, then I am in, but I would probably meet y'all there. I live about 20 min east of Philly, so it would be way out of my way to meet y'all in MD and then drive up.

Hey all I need your opinions. I have a hitch mounted shackle on order already and now I'm in the market for a tow strap and maybe some extra shackles. Let me know what you think about them and if they're a good buy.

I found this tow strap on ebay for $37+shipping:

You are bidding on a NEVER-BEEN-USED 4" x 30' Recovery/Tow Strap with a material rated breaking strength of 30,000#'s. Both ends are a triple thick twisted loop with a protective wear covering that easily fits on a recovery/tow hook. The loops also allow for an easy choker or basket configuration depending on need.

I found this shackles on ebay for $9+shipping:

The highest bidder will receive One Brand New Heavy Duty D-Ring Clevis pictured in this auction. Up for bid is One Clevis which measure 3/4" in Diameter has a useable length of 2 7/8" and has a threaded pin. The pin Diameter is 7/8". These have a working load limit of 13,000 lbs. These have many uses one example would be attaching straps or cables for vehicle recovery.

Toolbox would be cool too but it is TOYBOX...:D (it actually means something to me....Toyotas and Boxers (see avatar) both are major institutions in my life)

Sure we can meet up before. I think if we meet at the beginning of the NE extension (end of the blue route) that would be good. There is a Starbucks on Germantown av right at the entrance to the turnpike or we could meet in the Plymouth Meeting mall which is right there also.

I'm almost all set in terms of recovery gear for the trip and future outtings. Recovery strap is in the mail (decided on the one I posted earlier). 2 shackles are in hand (very heavy duty and supposedly a 13000LB working load limit. Hitch shackle is in as well but I need to drill out the pin holes as the locking hitch pin doesn't fit. The hitch pin fits fine without it in there so it must be the receiver shackle.

Does Rausch have an "air up" station? Will we even need to deflate if we are running the "green" trails? If no "air up" station, how far is a gas station with air?

I have a small, and I mean small, air pump that connects to the cigarrete lighter thingy. It takes forever to pump up a tire, but is only for worse case scenarios. I'll call Rausch Creek and ask them the Q about air pumps in the facility.

My guess is that they should, but they might not, since they promote responsible off roading and this means being prepared for when the yogurt hits the fan deep in the woods.

I am glad you got your recovery gear lined up. I have a WARN shackle, but no hitch adapter, so it just slides from left to right on the cargo tray in the runner :D

The closer the date gets you can all expect me to be calling you at tyour cell phones just to touch base.

RC does not have "air" or "water". Nearest gas station is about 4 miles away in Ravine, or about 5 miles the other way in Tower City. Bring a lot of quarters.
There is a parts store in Tower City too.

I was wondering when you were going to chime in since RCORP is your hang out :D
Do you have any suggestions on what the "proper" drop on tire pressure should be for the green trails on stock tires?
My natural inclination is to drop the pressure on the tires about 4-5 psi from the suggested PSI on the side of the door. I'll read my manual, perhaps it is stated in there. Thanks for the infor on the air pumps.

I've never been to Rausch creek, but if the green trails are mild, you may not even have to lower your pressure. I just came back from a stock off-roading trip and none of us dropped our pressure, and none of us had problems (except for the lone Jeep with us)- see the photos under the gallery section.
 
You may not have to lower tp for the green trails, but if you do you could easily go down 10 lbs. I run my tires ~30 psi on the street and 10-12 on the trails, but don't take yours that low.
 
Thanks for your responses. I didn't think it'd be really necessary to lower the TP for some light offroading. I'll have some recovery gear if any one gets really stuck but hopefully it won't have to come to that :)
