Holy Crap, not sure how I missed this thread for the past 2 months!!
I live in Manassas, VA. I've never been offroad, but I would love to give it a try. I wanna learn how to use this puppy, center diff/vsc and all that jazz.
Is it to late to join up? I have yet the talk to the wife (boss). But I don't think we have anything planned.

There is always room for more 4runners
Worse case scenario invite "Boss" to come with you, this usually ends up in you coming by your self any way, but she can't say no cause at least you offered.
PM Me your Cell Phone and your e-mail, I'll carbon copy you with all the conversations we've been having via e-mail and directions on how to get to Home Depot in Columbia MD.

FYI-the stock skid plates held up VERY well. I am highly impressed on what these rigs could do stock. At one point, according to my Clinometer, we went up a very rutted, muddy, and 23 degree hill. Not to bad for the trail looked like. Even the guys running the stock Dunflops made it without getting stuck, although with a lot of wheel spin!

LOL, yeah I made up that hill with the Dunflops! I stuck it in 4LO just in case. I didn't want to embarass myself too badly in front of everyone

For the next trip, I'll definitely have to get a lift and some new rubber. Hearing my truck bottom out on the technical portions was like a kick in the nutz.
It was nice to meet everyone and finally put a face to screen names.

I was in 4 low the whole time. I think the lower gearing helps to crawl over rocks and minimize bottoming out. Also I was very impressed with the DAC going down a couple of those hills especially the hill that was a sheet of ice.
I had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

Well after some closer examination, I've got two dents on my gas tank shielding and some new pin striping down the passenger side. The pin striping doesn't appear too bad and can probably be polished out since I can't feel it with my finger nail. Weather report shows that it'll be in the 60's next weekend so I'll probably be claybarring the truck then

Guys, I had a great time! I was nice meeting everyone.
Milo (Little Foot)has the pictures and he'll share them with you along w/ the DVD. He is really good at editing video.
The sliping on ice/ land on the tree stump fall I took was not caught on video, I had my camera on standby. Milo caught the sound clip while he was shooting the Liberty.
I took some video, but not enough, maybe 5 minutes total.
Milo took about 15 minutes total.
I am going to work on some of the pix as soon as I get my camera back from Milo so that I can post a link to them here.
Scotts JGC took a nice blow on the passenger side, right where the side rails would be, approx 4 inches long and 2-3 inches wide about a foot back from the wheel well
, he said he was not going to show that side to wife or she wount let him come along anymore
He took a really nice pic of my truck where down the J trail ( right after the Icey hill. I'll post that pic here ASA Iget my hands on it.

How bad is the damage and how did he do it? On the passenger side is kind of difficult for the wife not to find out. He could make her ride in the back on the driver's side.

It was lots of fun.
I tought about your runner a few times, specially when mine scrapped the bottom, even just a few mil of contact with the dirt/rocks made the loudest most horrible noise, during those moments I wished my runner was "corn fed" or something similar to it.
In order to see the damage Scott's JGC took, one has to literally squat or be at a distance in order to see it. So I think he'll get away with it for a while until he takes it to the body shop. When I pointed it out to him it was like rubbing salt on a wound, should of seen his facial expression

I had a great time as well, and we need to do this again soon. No damage to my truck as far as I can see, of course it's still covered in mud which I enjoy for about a week and then it needs to be cleaned off. Clutch is still OK even though I burned it on the first 300ft.....4 LOW, not high :bash:
