Yeah it was pretty cool getting to see one. It's not too often that we see em around here especially out during the day. I think I've seen one on maybe two other occasions.

And yeah I got the mounts on! I've got to take the base off the lift and figure out either some kind of rattle solution or quick release for it. The base just bounces around some, nothing too bad though.

You are correct! It's 2" 3M painters tape. I put it down that side cause we started going down the trail and the trail narrowed down real quick. It got to the point where backing out of it wasn't going to be fun. It quickly became pick which side you wanted to drag brush down. With a rut that was about 1 to 3 feet deep if different sections it made the decision for me. I put the tape in sections where it was most likely to drag brush down it. I have seen a few FJs do that, and decided I would put a roll in my recovery bag I have.

As far as weather goes, it was so nice out today. Mid to high 60s for most of the time out on the trail. It's definitely starting to feel like fall now. You atleast get snow up there though. We just get a miserable cold or it gets in that in between stage. We'll get days where its almost too warm to wear pants and a coat, but too cold to wear shorts and a t-shirt.

Oh but we do occasionally get some ice if that counts for anything haha.

I'm glad someone actually spotted the owl! haha It was my favorite picture I took of the day.
 
Was out today but barely took any pics. It was tons of fun with lots of recoveries. One guy had a front tire about 4 inches away from a big flop. I think I set a record by getting stuck 100 feet into the trail, still within view of the road. It looked like I was headed into a snow-filled rut, but it was just a bit of snow covering pure mud. Got high-centered and had to be pulled backwards. Also managed to lose the trim piece from my rear bumper. Had another where I was already off camber then the tires on my low side broke through the ice. That caused quite a pucker and I had to be winched back so I wouldn't end up on my side.

You can sort of make out where my skid plates flattened out the snow.

My friend nicknamed my 4Runner the Excavator because once when he was spotting me my skids and sliders were pushing the ground up beneath his feet. Looks like it makes a good snow plow too.

I did suffer one casualty on the day. The bulb is only a couple bucks but I'm guessing the lens is significantly more expensive. Some clear packing tape will do until I get a bumper.

Went to Box Canyon the past couple of days to meet-up with a friend. I thought he was going to be wheeling his Raptor, but he was with a bunch of other folks, and they were all driving Polaris' or Yamahas. So, I followed a bunch of lawnmowers around for a couple of days around the canyon. I didn't have too many opportunities for pictures because I seemed to be the only one with a camera, and I didn't want to hold-up the group. But, there were some pretty hairy spots. Joneseyyy - I know you want to buy a Razr, but I was able to go a lot of places they wouldn't dare take those little things! There were a couple of sections that rivaled what we saw in Moab (same scraping on the butt, too!), and the overall complexity and technicality of the "non-main" trails is right up there with what's around in Ouray. Best part is it's 25 minute drive from my front door!

Heading up Box Canyon Road which is very tight in many places. I had to straddle a couple of boulders in a few spots just to get by, and dealing with oncoming traffic is interesting (notice the AZ plates - it's like I'm a native now).

On the first day my girlfriend and I did a solo trip up to Martinez Mine. That was pretty interesting and a nice hike since they closed off vehicular access about a mile from the mine itself a couple of months ago.

Hopefully I'll get some better pictures next time I'm out there. I had a great time and covered a lot of ground. There are some really beautiful spots in the canyon, so I'm excited to get back out there to do some exploring.
 
Box Canyon is a fun area. I've done it a few times although some sections Ill leave to my friends in their purpose built crawlers. Great pics! Last time I was near the mine was in July on a night run so no pics. We are talking about doing a run there soon.
