**Official CVT group buy - feeler***

The list you see here is only a small part of it. There are well over 100 on the taco group. CVT is going through the list based on the tents they have in stock. In addition they are servicing their regular customers.

You came into this group buy long after it closed and seem really upset that you aren't being serviced yet. There are many of us who have been signed up for quite a while who are waiting patiently for our turn.

If CVT chooses to allow people on the waiting list to purchase, it will be after all of those who signed up during the actual group buy period have had their chance to order.

If you don't want to wait, you can call them directly and order tomorrow. I have heard that people are getting decent deals that way. If you want the 20% off, you will need to wait and see what CVT decides, knowing that you may not make the list at all.

I'm not upset that I didn't get in the list, but every question I've asked had gotten answered by "I don't know yet", "I can't answer that" etc. I understand I'm late, I was just about to purchase a tent, and need to determine if I should wait to see about this group buy, or buy now, but nobody (until now) answered any of my questions.

I understand. It's a lot easier to make an accurate decision when you know when you can order. In this case, you don't know if it will be a week or 2 months. I don't think anyone knew it would end up being handled this way. CVT may have taken on more than they bargained for, plus the changes in the website in the middle of all this doesn't help either.

tigger hit the nail on the head.

The list was capped off at 150 people. CVT had me compile a list with everyone's interest.

The list was turned in to CVT and they are using the list to fulfill orderes based on what they have in stock. They are NOT fullfilling orders per time frame, nor in order, etc. It is all stock dependent. They are also not using all their stock for this group buy because they want to fulfill online orders as well.

Yes, people are dropping off the list every week, but CVT is workin off the original list i gave them. If the list keeps changing every week, the group buy will get hairy.

I do not know timeframes because they havent told me.

Yes, people in the alternates list want to pay now for something that may be in stock that someone else turned down, but CVT does not want to do it that way. They want to take care of the original list FIRST.

Once that is done, then maybe, depending again on their stock, theyll do the alternates list.

I have no dates. I have no guarantees, I have no timeframes.
tigger and others that are on this list and even myself have been waiting patiently to get our orders fulfilled. The guys on TW are in the same boat as we are here.

There's been a few that have dropped out and paid full price, if you want to do that, it is also an option.

Thanks for your interest in this GB.

I knew about the TW group buy going hand in hand with this one, and that's what had me questioning time frames. This makes sense, and I was inquiring just about times. I suppose I'll go ahead and purchase. Thanks for the info.

Also, I know inflection is lost in a wall of text. If I seemed pissed off, I'm sorry. I was just trying to calculate in my simple mind what I need to do at this point.

Again, sorry.

Thanks ramonortiz55 for setting this up ... I got my awing in and going to install it before heading to work ... awesome!!! Will post pics soon

Yeah - I'm trying to be very patient, and obviously have incentive to do so, but I can't help but wonder how in deep over their heads CVT really is with this. I've been monitoring their site and have only seen 'Out of Stock' for all Summit Series and some others. Thought about calling them but, as I said, I'm treating this as an exercise in patience and don't want to contribute to any difficulties they may already be dealing with.

Just FYI - there are a LOT more details about this GB and the problems involved over at the Taco group. This thread is paltry by comparison.

Some notes on TW from Cascadia:

Good afternoon TW,

We do apologize for the long ass delay and lack of communicating. As we have told folks who call in and normally they come right to here and tell you guy's. So again it is my fault and I sincerely apologize.
We have now got the tents on the water. More green and also tan summits. We have a couple of hundred coming in this next month. It will be the end of may on for these to start being ready to ship and/or pick up.
We also have the grey color being made. They will be taking off in June and heading this way.
Some of you have heard we did have a couple of things to fix. They were minor but needed to be attended to. So with that we needed to unbox and re-do them all.
I know this screws some of you and for that I do apologize. If we can help in any way with getting you another tent to use till yours comes in we can do that as we know a few of you are depending on it for your trip. Contact me direct if you need. cell 541-419-2790
Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Bobby

The response to the CVT group buy from the TacomaWorld and Expedition Portal communities has been astounding!

CVT is a small company. Their business IS their customer base. I know firsthand that Bobby wants all of his customers to be happy. He is not happy with the current turn of events. He discovered a minor manufacturing flaw with stitching on the new Summit Series tents. Instead of knowingly shipping the defective product out to his customers, he pulled EVERY tent out and fixed them. BY HAND. In house. This caused a substantial delay in shipped product.

While Bobby is the face of the company (events, videos, online), Jamie has been working relentlessly behind the scenes on the logistics. Needless to say, it hasn't been a walk in the park for anyone involved. CVT's main concern is getting product to their customers. The manufacturing was delayed, the shipping was delayed, and the most important piece, getting the product in their customers' hands, was delayed.

So...There are a LOT of questions floating around this thread. I will do my best to answer them.

Where is my tent?

If you ordered a standard tent, chances are you already received it! There are a lot of standard tan models in stock.

Where is my Summit Series tent?

There was a manufacturing delay which caused a cascading delay down the line. The Summit Series is a brand new product and the timing of the group buy was supposed to correlate with the new product launch. Again, the shipping delay caused issues down the line.

Bobby wanted to include the Summit Series in the group buy discount. That's relatively unheard of for a brand new product that is in-demand. He loves his customers and wants to make them happy. That is his driving force for being in business (he's driving to Moab, Utah as we speak to hang out with everyone!). Not getting the tents in your hands is driving him crazy. He's working to get it rectified.

Why is shipping so expensive?

CVT tents must be shipped by freight. It's expensive, unfortunately. For those who have worked in the shipping industry, you know what I mean. For those that haven't, please realize shipping includes handling, fuel, drivers, drop locations, etc.

Why isn't group shipping way cheaper?

It takes approximately 2 hours to build a pallet, load it properly, and wrap it correctly. It is cheaper, but it still has to be shipped by freight. See above for freight costs!

The Summit Series tents weigh more than the standard series does. Heavier materials and a new, heavy-duty floor add to the weight. Bobby has fought to keep shipping to a minimum. Fun fact: CVT breaks even (even pays out!) on shipping...it's not a money-making venture by any means.

In summary...

CVT is a small, family-owned and operated business that loves its customers without reserve. They are working tirelessly (Jamie has been at the shop burning midnight oil) to catch up on orders, ship the orders, and manage the onslaught of new tents arriving from the Port several times a week.

So, please be patient with them! You are their reason for being in business. #cvtfamily They love y'all and want to get your products out to you. If you want to order a standard series tent (it's still a heavy duty, rugged tent!!), they have plenty available in stock and ready to ship.

The Summit Series tents are arriving weekly. The SS green is slated to be here first (currently on the boat). The SS tan is just a tad behind the green.

The SS gray is the farthest out. The grays are expected no earlier than mid-July.

CVT is not going to ship a defective product. When the new SS tents get in, they will be QCd in house.

Thank you Brian!

Also, received an email from CVT, they will be getting another shipment of tents soon.

How soon? didn't get a date ..I am keeping you guys updated as much as possible

If you are on the fence between the standard and Summit version of these tents, get the summit. I got to see both side by side at the Overland Expo today. What a difference. The reduced flutter in the wind is what sold me. Winds were 30mph+ out there and the Summit was fluttering about a 1/4th of the standard tent. The material is so much thicker. And the telescoping ladder is 10x better. Overall it is just a much nicer tent. Not that there is anything wrong with the standard, but I think the Summit will last years longer. Easily comparable to the Eez-awn and $1500 cheaper.

Bobby felt bad about the way the group buy was going. Timing was off with the issues of the first 2 shipments of the Summits and they are working hard to rectify the issues.

He said he should have pics of the Tan Summits up in about 2 weeks. Unfortunately the Grey's wont be out until at least July.
