haha yeah my bench/pullups are pretty good for my weight, i'm built like a V. I actually needed to edit that, my bench max was 235 not 245. this was all pre injury though i havent lifted in a month :(

theres no standard for pullups, but I can usually hit 16-20 for a "max" set but like i said before I try and do as many as I can over a longer period resting as I feel necessary.

Or doing weighted pullups for less sets.

Only tip I have is stretch a lot - every day. Find a routine that you can do every night so you stay loose. This was my biggest problem. Rather than stretch, I just sat around and got stiffer. Also, don't try to jump back into the heavy stuff too soon and when you finally do, cut the amount you were lifting and work your way back up. Otherwise you'll just end up getting injured again like I did.

I've cut the weight nearly in half and plan to work my way slowly back to where I was. For example, my squat workout this week ended at 275. Pre-injury, it ended at 465. My deadlift workout ended at 315 and pre-injury it ended at 495.

It's kinda disappointing but necessary (I think) for me to re-work my form and strengthen the weak/injured muscles.

i hear you, my squat workout has week ended with 365, pre injury i always end with 455, huge blow to the ego. i do foam roll and stretch but not enough, like you said i sit all day in class and at home most of the time. hard not to sit in a chair all day.

I installed a stretching app on my phone and was able to create my own stretching routine with it. Takes about 15-20 minutes to complete but is well worth it.

I've never been a big fan of stretching (sadly), but I am getting to the point that I actually enjoy it now.

well when i do stretches and deep tissue rolling, its 30 minutes of pure pain. thats probly why i dont do it much

T4r4life - what happened to your back? Was trying to find out and am having trouble finding it. I've had 8 surgeries so I'm in the same boat. LOL

I completely agree. I do them almost every day. You can't argue that you're fit if you can't bang out a bunch of pull ups.

Actually, I'd disagree to a certain extent. Don't get me wrong - I've got some weight to lose.

However, I've got an EXCELLENT reason - actually, three of them. I've had 3 different shoulder surgeries (severe impingements, nerve damage, etc.)

I've got decently strong shoulders; here's my current maxes (I'm 5'10" and weigh 220):

- squat - 350# (@$$ to the ground)
- deadlift - 405#
- static shoulder press - 175#
- push press - 205#
- push jerk/split jerk - 255#
- power clean - 205#
- squat clean - 175#
- clean & jerk - 205#
- squat snatch - 155#

However, there are things that have suffered. I'm still working up to my previous max bench press of 245#, and it's darn near impossible for me to do pullups now.

(Note: This is NOT to say I don't work on them. But it'll be a long road. After surgery it was hard for me to even do a dead hang for 10 seconds...now I can do so for a minute or two easily, can do ring rows easily, bent over barbell rows, etc.)

Yeah i had to stop my cut short, and all the weight that i cutted bunched right back after being in caloric surplus for a month or so. i feel much better now with that bastard tooth outta me, just gotta rehab my back and work my way back and cut again, goal is to cut to 250 again by the end of this year.
