progress update:
So my goal was to pack on 33 pounds, bringing me up to 175.
And to join the 300 lb bench club.

Good to see you are well on your way. Great progress too.
I'm trying to add 15 solid pounds to be above 205. I'm currently around 193. Trying to stay lean as well, got to see those veins. I'm working on increasing my bench too. It's pretty lame right now.

thanks, im about 16% bf right now. once i reach 175, i will cut to 165 or so, then go from there.

Your not to far from your goal. whats your routine look like?

Not trying to preach but I would consider trying to lose some body fat while adding mass. People say it can't be done, but it can. It just takes patience.
Not knowing you're complete diet habits, I'd add more protein and cut down on carbs. Don't eat after 8pm, except protein drink, cut out soda, and be honest about your diet. Add a session or two of cardio (if you're already doing it, then add one more session), but I would recommend not cutting, but "transitioning"...
Again, not preaching... just trying to be helpful...:biggrin2:

I went today and got some legs in-

Squats
Stiff Leg DL's
Planks
S-T-R-E-T-C-H....

My chest is still sore from the other day! I haven't done heavy (to me) in so long, it hurt! But no pain, no gain.

It sucks. I really wish some of you all lived closer so we could workout together. I haven't had a workout partner since the 90's, but I find it does help.

But it's not to be, so we'll go on "spottin' from the keyboard"....:keyboard:

thanks for the friendly advice.. i have been doing a lean bulk, as much as i can. i was at 18%-19% bf when i started. I do cardio, plus have an 11 year old son so basketball etc is a normal part of my life. i havent had a soda in about 7 years(sometimes i sneak a sniff of one) . As i get closer to my first goal weight i will do plenty of reading on cutting or transitioning as i have never done it before..

Again thanks for the helpful advice. Keep it coming, Im all ears.

I hate when people say that, it's an excuse to get fat. I did it, totally plausible.

Did shoulders today. Meh

DB press, 45x8 x 3
Machine press
Side raises, real slow and controlled 20x10 x 3
Front raises, same deal 15x12x3

abs

Not terrible, but I was pressing 50's for 10x5 pretty easily and doing 55's for lower reps (5-6) before my injury. It was nice to get a swell and see I still had shoulders hiding somewhere

nothing special today, did legs and abs, but thought id share something funny.

since its the week after thanksgiving, the gym is obviously packed, so the majority of people in there don't know me and i don't know them, so when i went to the squat rack and worked my way up, then got to 315 to squat, i could see all these guys saying "whats this chicken legged freak trying to prove". don't judge a book by its cover lol :biggrin2:

im the opposite, i go to the squat rack on deload days, people are expecting me to do like 600lbs, when im just doing 5 reps of 315 . makes me feel like a beta lol

HaHa you guys are cracking me up. At least you are doing legs. Alot of guys in the gym never do legs. I hate doing legs but still work them in once a week.

i hate doing chest and shoulder, the soreness is different, back and leg sore feels good, chest and shoulder sore just feels like pain lol

disagree with you so hard
lol srs?
idk man everytime after legs or dead i feel like a million bucks, im literally high. and for the next 2 days my legs and back are so pumped my pants and shirts don't even fit. but on chest and shoulder days, it hurts so bad i can't even brush my teeth.

I just feel like crap and can't walk when I do legs. or move at all. or sit still. or go on top

My routine? Its usually
Monday: Chest and Tris
Tuesday: Back and Bis
Wed.: Off-due to work
Thurs: Shoulders
Friday: Legs Bis and more Tris
But it varies alot. I don't think I do the same thing every week. I tend to mix in just what I feel like hitting that day.
I'm trying to cut body fat too. And yes, it can be done while adding mass. I was at 18% a couple of months ago. Haven't had my trainer friend measure me since. I need to check, I can see my stomach is getting smaller and my pants are a bit loose!!

But no pain, no gain.
My favorite movie

Yes it does. I wish I had a workout partner too. Thats why I don't do over 225 on bench. No one to spot me.

If you are having shoulder pain especially after doing chest, look up stretches for thoracic extension. I had terrible pain every time I worked out and two weeks ago thought about going to the doctor. Found some stretches on youtube and now no pain at all. I do them daily and before and after workouts.

I just feel like crap and can't walk when I do legs. or move at all. or sit still. or go on top

Amen

it's not really pain, it's lactic acid. but when its in muscles that small, it doesn't feel good.
i do mobility wod daily. i even have a stating in my home for foam rolling and stretching.

Not fun! Stretch, walk, EAT PROTEIN!! But yeah, not much you can do except do legs more often...

My w/o right now is this...

MON- Chest, Arms
TUES- Legs, TV in the cardio area, followed by a nap..
WEDS- Excuses not to go
THURS- Shoulders
FRI- More excuses...
