Levi's! I have an old pair of Lee's I wear when working on the Runner.

Good numbers on the DL's.

Thanks! Not bad for coming back from a 7-10 month break - I don't even know how long it has been since I lifted heavy. It's just good to be back. I just hope that I can keep moving up without any injuries this time. I would love to get to a 600lb deadlift & squat.

Oh yeah - Lees! Seriously, every pair of levi's I've owned I manged to rip the crotch when squatting down to pick stuff up. My Lees have yet to do that, though the belt loops always seem to tear off where I pull them up. Can't win, I guess.

running boards? What are those?

I'm planning on doing legs well, later today since I'm up at 4am. I drive my wife's FJ on leg days cause it sits lower and it's easier to get in and out of. Can't lift it cause it won't fit in the garage if I do. Stupid FJ roof rack.

haha, ya i still got mine till i get some sliders.

I think taking mine off was the first mod I ever did. They kept getting my pants dirty getting in and out of the car rubbing against them.

Did legs today. Squats are getting better.
2 sets of leg press for warm up.
Squats:
135x10 warm up
225x8
275x6
275x4
225x8
Unfortunately 275 starts to hurt my back. Compressed my spine playing rugby several years ago. Plus my left shoulder is hurting, been having spasms around my shoulder blade. But 275 was a lot easier to do this week. I'm slowly getting stronger and on my way to a 400lb squat.

Nice work! You have a belt? I find that a good belt helps with some of the back pain.

HA! My belt loops in the back have given away and now I got some holes there. I still think they're comfortable enough for car work though. One time I had a pair on where the back pocket gave out, I squatted down and the whole ass end gave away!

Nice numbers! Take your time. Remember, it's a marathon (and its usually only with yourself...) and you don't want to go hurting things.

It's mainly the downwards force of the weight itself just being on my back. I'm not really into belts but I have been thinking of getting one just to see how it does. It's been a long time since I have used one. I've been strengthening my core to help support the weight. It's really helped on my deadlifts.

A good belt will give you something to push your abdominal muscles into. This in turn helps stabilize the back. A belt can also help move more weight. You don't need to use it for every set, just the heavier ones. I usually put one on for any squats or deadlifts over 400 pounds.

Raw squat session today.
30 min mobility as usual
135 warm up
225 warm up
315 warm up
working set:
365x5

405x3
pause squat
315x5
225x5

had a good shoulders day the other day was doing 50's for DB press. Almost back to where I was. But again gonna drop the weight and do some slower stuff with higher reps

Nice work!, good to see that holidays are not hindering y'all's lifts.
gonna do some shoulders with tri tomorrow to help with my bench lock outs. my shoulder seems to get small as soon as i stop working them, so far delts are the hardest muscle to grow for me.

I know that feeling. I think we weigh about the same. If we could just avoid those injuries & other setbacks we could get to that elite level. :)
seriously, ever since my injury my deadlift is a joke, and my bench was a joke to start with, only thing im slightly good at is squats. #feelsbadman

Ps: its hard to find people to talk about this stuff too, most people don't understand how bad it is to have a total below 1300 when you weight as much as us

So true! Even worse is that most of them think I lift too heavy. I've had several doctors & a physical therapist tell me that I should never have to squat or deadlift more than 200 pounds. I was all like: :lalala:

SO, I didn't want to flip through 50 pages of this thread :hiding:
though I did search the thread and didn't find much.

I just started lifting, I was always great at cardio and can shed off pounds, though I could never build mass.

I learned from a friend that it's all about eating the right stuff and lifting heavy.

So I have been lifting as heavy as I can, while maintaining 7 reps x 3 sets of each work out. That's for the lifting.

Now for the eating.. I'm having a tough time balancing my diet, or knowing what and when to eat. I generally eat healthy, don't eat bread/pasta/rice. I started eating oatmeal because I hear its high in protein and has carbs for my body to burn during a work out. I eat about 2 egg whites a day, some turkey, avocado, almond butter etc...

I usually drink a milk/protein powder/honey shake after my work out. Protein plus sugar (honey) to quickly send nutrition to my musKles.

Question is, what should I eat before and after a work out to help me power through a work out and post recovery?
Maybe if some of you can share what your diet consist of, I can build off of that.

Thanks!! :)
