Problem with massive eating is, most of it goes to my stomach... I am also trying to thin out my waste line.... Seems to be impossible to gain muscle mass while slimming waste line and staying healthy..

took me awhile to realize this too...you cant have both unfortunately. gotta decide what you want more. slim belly or lots of muscles. while youre gaining muscle your waist will suffer. then when youre to the size you want you can cut and get the waist slimmer. i myself will be taking a beach vacation in about 3 weeks so im cutting now.

However, it's only been a month that I have been actively going to the Gym.. Not really sure how long usually before I start to notice the transformation.
takes about 12 weeks. or at least it did for me to get my body fat % down and see the change

No one has been working out...??

I've at least been doing some cardio although not much....

i missed bout half a week last week, i guess i will just count that as a deload.
gonna hit it hard starting tonight.:whoo:

Thanks to all that have responded and the advise!

just eat 3-5 hundred calories over you body weight maintenance and
as clean as possible and you wont put on as much fat.(in theory)
Few people can gain mass and lose fat at the same time, but it can be done.
generally your either bulking(gaining muscle and fat) or cutting(losing fat and some muscle).

Hit heavy weights for 8-12 rep range for 4-6 sets, and do some cardio.
you should gain muscle mass while keeping fat to minimum or cutting some fat.

Good luck.

well i took a huge step yesterday, i played lacrosse for the first time in over 6 months. my knee wasn't horrible, i took it easy, it certainly helped i was playing with my fathers team, yeah most of them are 45+, so i didn't really need to push super hard, but i quickly realized i lacked the stamina that most of these geriatrics had lol...

I made it to the gym today. Monday workout, followed by a 1 mile run.
It wasn't pretty, but it counts! Hoping this TMJ thing stays away...

Hit chest last night on Monday, aka: National Chest Day.
Did bench 225lb, 6 times with no problem. Slowly getting my bench to increase.
Also noticed on other exercises I'm increasing the weight, slowly but surely.

I agree leftyguns21

I actually pick my lagging body part to do on Mondays, which is legs. But there's only two squat racks at my gym and they're always busy on Mondays. So, I make Tuesday leg day- Gym is almost dead on Tuesdays.

Hit legs today with the wife. Not the best workout as I missed legs last week due to holidays, excuses really. But I get bonus points for spending time with the wife right?
Did deadlifts:
185x10
225x8
315x5
315x2
225x6 Working on making 315 easier to lift before I move up weight.

Did bi's too, have to get the blood back in the arms where it belongs.
DB curls:
40sx10
45sx8
50sx6
40sx8
Then hit some barbell curls. Felt good for a Sunday workout.

I have a nasty habit of getting in good shape then atrophying, repeat.

Started back into Insanity a week and a half ago. I'm not a lifter, I'm more of a cardio guy. I enjoy hopping onto an AMT (Precor 100i) and pushing to 1,000 calories in an hour.

Since I hurt my knees (over worked) doing Insanity last year, I'm going a bit slower and using some GNC Triflex to help alleviate the issue this time. I figure I shouldn't run a marathon on the first day.

Now I'm looking for a heart rate monitor that also tells me calories.

you said you are more of a cardio type of guy, what about HIIT, reason i say this is because cardio is terrible for building any mass, it only trains slow twitch muscles and that's why marathon runner look so sick and skinny all the time, and sprinters look jacked as hell.

just got back from the gym today, things are starting to come back

DB press - 75x5 (that's just about BW for me, I'm 153ish) for 3 sets, 65x6 for 2 sets
Incline DB press - 50x8 3 sets
Decline bench - 135x8 2 sets
Shoulder press behind the neck - 60 (bar) x 12 for 3 sets
Lateral raise - 15x12 for 3 sets
Cable decline flies - 3 sets of 8-10
Cable tricep stuff for 7 sets till my arms feel like they're gonna fall off

I've taken on a terrible, I don't give a crap attitude lately. Strained a muscle somewhere while trying to push my wife's broken car out of the way while standing on ice & snow. Slipped a bit and you know the rest. I haven't done anything in 2 weeks because since then, my back is tight & achey. Everyone was right when they say once you hit 35 your body goes downhill...

I'm about to give up on the heavy stuff & just do cardio or something.

I'm with you, junaitari...

I'm going to start doing the "Zopperman routine", all upper body, no legs..:bump2:

I'm done with legs, at least squats.

Yes, I've seen the light! Now to the promise land,...and chicken shape!

Anyone set any goals for themselves this year??

I did. I've decided to lose some size. My goal is to lose 4 lbs. a month and TRY to get down to 225 by the end of summer.

My current numbers are 246 lbs. @ 14.5% BF.
