Official: Gym/Workout Thread

Well Monday was full of new years resolutioners at the gym, hopefully they
Give up by the end of the week.

Any powerlifters out there who compete?

I have always wanted to but constant muscle tension & pain have prevented me from actually doing so. I was actually a month out from my first meet when I pulled something in my back working on my wife's car. Haven't been the same since...

the zombie apocalypse will come, and you will be strong enough to fight them off, but too slow to get away....sadness

I have realized that you can't be all of it..

Either strength, speed, distance. Not all of it. At least not for an average person with a full time job, kids and other obligations :)

I keep trying & have good days and bad days. I've been in the weight room (my basement) off and on, though I don't know for how much longer I'll be able to lift heavy. I turned 35 this year. If only I had started doing this 15 years ago...

My goal was to compete at least once and hit a 1500 pound total. I was about 75 pounds from that goal & Gaining quickly when I got injured. I still hope to get that total even if I just do it in my basement.

Hit the basement tonight for a cardio workout:

Below is one set-

400 meter run
push-ups
kettle bell swings
ropes (30 seconds)
kettle bell squats

for 5 sets

I want to be able to outrun the zombies, because according to Columbus (from Zombieland) the first rule of survival is cardio...

Keep plugging away at it and you'll get that total. 35 ain't old so you can still do it haha. Do you do any type of therapy for your back?

1500 is my goal right now I'm 18 and weigh 190 I'm almost there. Bench 290 squat 495 dead 503

Yah, I did a lot of physical therapy at a place that specializes in sports injuries. My therapist was a former powerlifter and pretty much knew where to work. He got me moving again, but my back is constantly tight & inflamed. I know muscle relaxers would probably do me some good, but I don't like taking meds. I just stretch, foam roll, ice & heat to keep moving. Sometimes things tighten up a bit too much and I have to take a week or two off to rest, but I always end up back in the weight room. I will get there someday.

Yes, I've seen the light! Now to the promise land,...and chicken shape!

Ha Ha I love seeing those guys in the gym. I hate legs but I feel stronger and better when I do them. But, I always have to do arms the next day to get a pump back in my arms where it belongs. My upper body feels skinny on leg days.

Anyone set any goals for themselves this year??

My goal is to get to 205 lbs with around 12% body fat. I'm currently at 195 and probably around 16%. My next step is a 400lb deadlift (most I've trained on is 315), 300lb bench (most I've worked on is 225x6, need a spotter), and keep working on squats.

I did. I've decided to lose some size. My goal is to lose 4 lbs. a month and TRY to get down to 225 by the end of summer.

My current numbers are 246 lbs. @ 14.5% BF.

those numbers ain't bad. Good luck on your goal.

I got the same goal I've had for a bit> trying to bulk to 175 then shred down to 165 and go from there. Ive been having trouble putting on weight lately. I havent been eating like i should. With the holidays most people put on weight, i lost a couple pounds from the rush and not being able to eat as much as needed. But Im getting my routine back in order now.

What kind of protein are you taking? I've had good success in the past with several gainer proteins. You just have to be careful because you can gain some weight in the midsection area.

been in limbo mode for a while, mainly weight wise, been the same weight for almost 2 month now, not really watching the diet, but gym stats are going up. but i really need to start my cut if i wanna look good this summer lol

I'm taking Cyto Gainer right now. Had a lot of success with it when I was in College. But I'm slow to put on mass now, gaining good strength though.
Also doing 1 more rep for pre-workout. Not really impressed with it. I got watermelon and it tastes terrible. I will probably go back to NO Explode.
