Official: Gym/Workout Thread

Leg day was yesterday. F@*k me, but I got it done. Not too bad though.
On the brighter side tonight is all arms. Tris then Bis and some abs.

Question:
What kind/type of weight belt do you guys recommend? I need to get one this week since I'm pushing my deadlift up.

Also how do you guys set up your max bench day? I'm thinking of trying a max day next week since my bench is getting better and I want to see how I do with more weight. I can do 185x10, 205x8, and 225x5-6 just for reference. 225 is the most I've tried at this point.
Inzer lever belt, go with the 10mm, i tired the 13mm felt no difference.
also make sure you do your maxes in a cage, i don't even trust spotters.
i got food poisoning last Sunday, huge set back. I just started eating again yesterday, haven't been taking my creatine and i feel tiny. May try and lift later today depending how I feel, but likely won't go again till monday.

:(

sucks man, worse way to lose weight lol

Inzer forever lever belt.

As for max bench, I always tried to start with a light 8 rep warmup followed by a slightly heavier 5 rep set. Then I just did singles until I hit my max. Usually started the singles around 40-50% of my max. At 225x5 or 6, I would guess your max is around 275.

Thanks guys I will have to track one of those down. Doubt they sell them in any sports supply stores. We only have Academy and Dick's.

i bought mine from houseofpain.com great deal when they have coupons. one of my best arsenals in my gym bag.

Thanks, I'm going to order one first of this week when I get paid. Any idea of how the sizes run? I'm going to have to find what size to get.

I measured around my belly button/midsection and got the appropriate size for that. It was the 3XL (47-50) since I'm a fatass.

I haven't posted here in quite sometime. Just thought I would update from my last post awhile back. I started off at 132 lbs and was completely unfit. I am now currently sitting at 165lbs in about a year and a few months. I'm on track to compete in men's physique later on this year. Made awesome gains and am looking forward to making even more with time.

thats great to hear. congrats on the gains. what kind of routine are you using?

tried sumo deadlift yesterday instead of conventional, once i got comfortable it was awesome, back had virtually no pain. i think imma stick with it for a while.

Thanks man! I workout 5 times a week and am still technically bulking... Clean Bulking... till Beginning of February. Chest & Tri's Monday, Back & Bi's Tuesday, Legs Wednesday, Shoulders & Traps Thursday, and Lats & Legs Friday.

Welcome to the club! I've pulled sumo for a while and I think I'm going to stick with it forever. Much easier on my back as well.

Now that I've pulled with it for a while, I think I'm going to stick with it forever. Much easier on the back for me as well.

The short travel makes me seem like such a boss lol pulled 405 fast as F I was like holy shiet I can do that? I guess all the rack pull and glute raise did help with my speed.

Yah, I was rather surprised at how much better & stronger I felt pulling sumo. It just puts me in a better position and I actually understand now what people were saying when they said to sit back and drive with your heels - something I had a hard time doing when I pulled conventional.

Speaking of Rack pulls...

I tried doing rack pulls with a sumo stance one time. Didn't work out so well. I couldn't pull nearly what I could with a conventional stance. So now it's sumo from the floor and conventional when I rack pull.

yeah, now i just have to get better at hook grip, that shit hurts so bad when you haven't done it in ages lol

I can't do hook grip. I have short fingers and thumbs and can't get my thumb under my fingers very well. Had to resort to mixed grip. Don't usually need it until I pass 405, though.

i only do it when i do my rack pulls because i don't think my deadlift weight can tear my biceps, but my rackpull weight is almost 635 so i get kinda scared doing mix grip on those.

As long as you don't jerk the weight, keep your elbows locked, and use your legs/hips/back to lift the weight, you probably won't tear a bicep. I've rack pulled 600 in the past and not had any issues.

last time i racked pull more than 600 lbs for reps, something around my collar bone popped, it was weird, the pain went from my collar bone to the side of my neck, and it was the side that i had under grip at. so now i kinda have this anxiety everytime i pull heavy with my under grip side lol

LOL, I did had what sounds like the same thing happen to me except I was doing dips. I refuse to do dips now, so I understand your anxiety.

Anyone been lifting recently? I took about 4 days off due to pain in my left elbow. Got back at it this week. Benched 275 too, personal heaviest I've done. Still working on repping 225 and working my way up.

ive been lifting as usual, been slacking a little on my diet though. i lost a couple pounds, which isn't good since im bulking.
