Official: Gym/Workout Thread

Nice shallcallhimtim!

I'm taking Super Pump, Anabolic Freak and Amino Freak (and extra protein drinks) and I've noticed a huge improvement in my strength. I just don't get tired... As I said before I haven't taken any supplements in years, many years. So maybe that's a big part of it.

But I really think if I can stay injury-free, I'll be at 405lbs. (BP) in no time.

Rather than trying to bulk up I need to loose about 30 lbs off my gut :). So far I have dropped 14 lbs and have about another 20 to go. I am now going out for a couple mile walk every evening and I have cut my food intake by 1/2. At age 65 it isn't the easiest thing to do, but already I feel better :).

Well I can't believe I've never ran across this thread. Granted, I don't visit the OT section that much so not too surprising. Anyway, there are some decent lifters in here from what little i've read so far. I'm just now getting back into it after a 3 year somewhat break (kinda off and on, not consistent). I was hardcore until graduating from college but now i'm back.

I'm currently doing my old routine, 3 full body days, abs and light cardio on off days (rest weekends), eat enough to grow (~250 grams protein, ~200 carbs, ~100 fat-will modify this as I go). I'm not taking any supplements besides Whey protein. I think I could jump up by taking some pre-workout stuff but haven't really wanted to yet. I haven't really got back into all my heavy power lifts yet like deads, squats, etc. (knee acting weird) but i've made a few "close to my previous lift" numbers. For shits and giggles, heres a quick and dirty of my last workout:

(light legs for now, effectively skipping them for a few weeks)
Squats with 135 and some extensions
------
BB Flat Bench: 275x8-9, 255x12, 225x20
DB Bench incline: 100sx3x10
-----
T-Bar Rows: 4 45sx3x10
Widegrip Pullups: Bodyweightx3 sets to failure (~10-12 right now)
-----
DB Shoulder Press: 85sx3x10 (still relatively weak in this area)
Standing DB Lateral Raises: 40sx3x10
Standing BB Shrugs: 315x3x20 (slow and high contraction)
------
Standing EZ-Bar Curls: 45sx3x10
Standing Hammer Curls: 60xx3x10
------
EZ-Bar Skull Crushers: 45sx3x10
Cable/Rope Pressdowns: 3 sets of 10 (weight varies by machine)

....and then I do some random legs, arms and dips and leave the gym. Ha. I used to do this routine in under an hour with legs included (working on getting them back up) by supersetting everything. Excellent cardio doing it that way but i've not got my conditioning back yet. For reference, i'm 6'2 and around 210lbs at the moment.

Just wanted to check in. Awesome thread guys. Keep it up!

workout has been Fing terrible this week, sleep sucked, i think it's just the combination of stress and lack of music since my ipod broke made me feel like shit in the gym, numbers were fine, it's just the way i feel.

Something is always better than nothing. You are still doing better than 100% of the people still sitting on the couch.

I did a very similar routine when I was in college and gained weight like crazy. I'm thinking about doing it again. I'm currently at 195 and haven't gained any in quite some time.

I understand. I've been in the same boat since my shoulder has been pretty sore plus the snow this week put a damper in my workouts. I always feel like the Pandora playlist that I'm listening to has a direct correlation to how my workouts are. I was depressed after my chest workout Tuesday.

True enough - and I've already gotten to the point that if I miss a day for some reason I feel a bit down! With the nice weather here in the Phoenix AZ area now there really is no excuse to get out and do something :). And I've lost about 14 pounds since the first of the year.

I just have to careful and watch for rattlesnakes - they are coming out now ...

well yesterday was monday, so official chest day.

started with flat DB, 40's x20, 50's x15, 60's x12, 70's x12, 80's x10, 90's x5
then incline BB, 135x12, 115x20, 115x20, 135x10
DB flies, 20x15, 20x15, 20x15
Cable Flies, weight doesn't count cause of all the pulleys, 3 sets of 15
then some abs, and called it a day

Doing the "Deployment Beastmode" again.

Got here a month ago at 210lbs (5'7") and been working out every day with one off/cheat day a week. I normally drop 20-30lbs out here. Looking for 25 this time and jump into the 1000lb club (currently 905: 275 bench, 315 squat and 315 deadlift). I was there last year but the flavor of good American beer and food always gets the best of me!

Using a regiment of all Cellucor prods: D4, T7 and C4. Lifting at work and cardio before (5mi run with pushups/abs every mile). Bi/Tri, then Legs, then Chesticles/Backosaurus Rex, repeat, then it's off day. Time to go Epic MealTime in the chowhall!

So a month in and I'm feeling great and down 10lbs already and lifting numbers are creeping upward.

Eh, may as well post mine too...

Nothing 5 sets of 10
Fok all 5 sets of 10

And that's pretty much it. Fokking messed up back and neck. :(

I am going to have to swallow my pride and hang it up on the powerlifting, I think. Going to give it one last shot with some very light weight on a 5x5 program. I'm thinking of starting out as if I max at 135 on every lift and perhaps shoot for speed and conditioning instead of the heavy stuff. Maybe even try to cut some excess fat off.

I have hope that I can someday get back to where I was, but it is fading...

Haha, it was a commonly used bypass for the swear filter on a subaru forum I used to moderate on. Old habit.
Does this board even have a swear filter?
