Speaking of wife lists. While I was at work yesterday my wife brought home some new lights for me to install over the kitchen island. Gotta admit they look pretty good. Just had to upgrade the dimmer switch to a 1000 watt bc the old 600 watt wasn't able to handle all these lights. Now I'm good at 840 total watts running through the switch. Whole job took less than 2 hrs. Not bad considering the guy that built the place didn't use legit light boxes and I had to chisel out wood to get the wire down from the ceiling...![]()

Well today I replaced the tile under my wood stove and started the demo in the master bath. Shit gettin did.

Great looking lights!
840 watts though - wow! Enough to keep you warm in the winter but maybe a good excuse to try some LEDs.
Hey thanks man!
The switch is definitely still warm when on at full, but we usually only run it at about 3/4. The lights are 360 watts a piece. The single light that's flush to the ceiling has 120 watts in it that's on the same switch.
I'm not opposed to LEDs, but dont want to lose the warmth of this color or the ability to dim them.
Find some with a color temperature around 2700 Kelvin. They look just like regular light bulbs as far as color.
Most electronic dimmers will dim them. If yours won't, find one marked for LED use.
Love this house.
Love it!
Thanks man. I'll look into them. I'm still well below the dimmers rated capacity, but to be honest I'd be happier if that switch wasn't so hot that's for sure.
I'd be worried more about the cost of power, but power is expensive here in the OC.
Maybe power is cheaper where you are, in which case the dimmer being slightly warm is normal and no reason to worry.
^ Love your thread man. My shower will look very similar to yours when it's done. Hopefully I'll get the whole room down to studs and subfloor this weekend. Then I can rip those shower walls down and frame up the half walls and start drywalling.
