Last time I changed my oil I used a form a funnel and didn't spill a drop of oil. Buy one, and be happy!

I bought one those after seeing you post about it a little while back. Good stuff & works well. Thanks for the tip.

At home, no. At work on generators I use it for oil changes, coolant draining and draining fuel filters.

I squeeze shop paper towel under the filter. The. Loser it with a plastic bag. Once it is about to be lose all the way. I drop it in the bag. And barley get oil anywhere b

The grip tape, form-a-funnel, and the plastic bag are all good ideas.
I may yet develop a use for those doggie diapers we got before our dog went to the great food bowl in the sky.

I'm lazy.

I throw down the rhino ramps, drive up, slide the Home Depot bucket underneath and drain the pan, scoot the bucket a few inches to the driver side and pull the filter. Everything drains into the bucket.

No mess.

P.S. I also removed the second skid plate soon after buying my T4R and have left it off ever since. Oil drains fine.

I always turn the wheels all the way to the right before starting an oil change. This gives me so much more room to grab the filter through the wheel well. I hardly spill any of the oil in the filter because you can turn it right-side-up after unscrewing it. The lift and BL probably help with access too.

To keep the mess down take a longer cardboard box (maybe 1 foot long 8 inches wide) fold it in half long ways so it makes a V. Then shove it between the frame and the skid plate so the top of the V is under the filter. Put a drain pan under the V and unscrew the filter, install the new one and spray with brake cleaner.

I've been working for Toyota for 14 years, it's how everyone does it. We use the plate frame inserts though, perfect size.
