Oil pressure question

I've been doing some research about adding an oil pressure gauge to my 2005 v8 4runner.

Have the gauge installed, just finished installing the sender. I've read people's experiences about how the 4.7 v8 has very low pressure when idling, some even as low as 5psi.

My truck is showing me about 25psi when idling in park once warmed up. In D, it's showing around 13-14.

I'm running conventional 5w30 oil. When driving at just under 2k rpm, it's showing about 50psi. Under acceleration, it's showing around 65-70ish.

Can anyone with a pressure gauge and a v8 chime in with what their experiences are as far as pressure goes? Is it that I'm running conventional oil that's causing significantly higher pressure than others have noted? I've been thinking of switching to synthetic or at least a blend but I'm not sure how switching at 186k would affect the truck. It's gotten regular oil with 5k oil changes since new (documented)

Thanks!

I don't have a pressure gauge on my truck. Why are you concerned? The pressures you are getting are very healthy. I've got an old Jeep that reads like 2psi at idle and I don't think it will EVER die.

there are different types of pumps. I'm not entirely sure what kind the 4R has but my old supra had a high volume, low pressure oil system. 2 psi and ran to its last legs at 330,000 miles lol.

08 v6 4R

warmed

idle 7-14psi
accel 30-70psi
full throttle 70-85psi

i redline several times a day for the last 4 years.

Thanks for the replies. It's not that I'm overly concerned, I just installed the gauge and am trying to establish a baseline for a truck with 186,000 miles on it so I'd know if something was off.

Liquorish, I tend to do that several times a day myself and your pressures sound just about what I'm seeing...great name by the way...

This is about the same for my T4R#2. It has over 220k on it running Mobil 1 5w-30.
The service manual actually lists 5 psi at idle normal if my memory is correct.

the oil pump is a gear driven off the front of the crank shaft. It sets right behind the cover behind harmonic ballancer.

I guess you got it all together ok. Have fun watching it.
