Oil smell- Normal?

So I do not know too much about mechanics (yet). I checked the oil today and it was in check but the smell of it was like charcoal. It smelled like a campfire or maybe charcoals on a BBQ. Actually, it was more like gasoline. I do not drive very far distances normally. A great majority of my drives are under 10 minutes. I changed the oil about 3,000 miles ago with Mobil-1. Is this normal? If not, how can this issue be resolved?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy but have you tried smelling other dipsticks?
Maybe it's normal?

If fuel was getting in I'd think the level would go up, not down.
When you checked the oil was the engine warm, and been sitting on level ground for 10 minutes or so?

That level looks ok for an older motor after going 3000 miles and the color look fine.

Looks totally normal for Mobile 1 to me. Odor is tough....burnt is not good on tranny but normally color matches the odor. I run Mobile 1 in all my gas engines (non toys) and it seems to darken up faster than dino oil.
