read your owner's manual....it's for holding a trash bag...you can use any plastic grocery bag with handles and run them through the hooks and you have a place to toss your candy wrappers and empty bottles

Yeah thats the trash bag holder. Toyota actually makes a hard vinyl/canvas one specifically for the 4Runner, but this is only sold in Japan. Burtman I think can get them (in around 2 weeks) but they will cost around 50$ last time I checked. EXPENSIVE for a T4R trash bag :awais:

I just use my side door pockets for all my trash. I quit smoking 2 years ago, so I chew gum like it's going out of style. That's where all my gum wrappers go, plus I'm not turning around while driving trying to throw a wrapper in the trash can. Not worth wrecking the 4R, which I could honestly see myself doing!! Plus, the door pockets have a spot to hold plastic water or pop bottles. Works out nice.....

it looks like a perfect place to hang my snowboard gloves to me. and right under the heater too. niiice.
on my 3rd gen i would use that rear heater to heat my boots and gloves up on the way up, and dry them on the way down. im hoping this 4th gen works just as good in the rear heater.

I quit YEARS ago, but instead of "quitting", I simply became more addicted to Nicorrett, and I usually acquire tons of those little wrappers in the door pockets, center consol, etc.., every two weeks! I'm always amazed when I reach down to clean out the pocket, and find handfuls of emply wrappers! I got them everywhere! Both cars, office desk, you name it! I simply LOVE nicotine....love it love it love it love it love it... but won't touch a cigerette ever ever again.

I love this holder- got a cple of kids and the notches hold your typical plastic grocery bag very well- just looks a little lame but better than garbage evrywhere!
Have yet to buy anything but here's the cheapest I've seen the OEM Hilux Surf Bag ($46 + Domestic S/H):
