I would think people will want to avoid the HD Front / Medium Rear because in this configuration, you are just asking for even more sag(relative) when the vehicle is loaded.

The front is already loaded more compared to the rear (iron block V8 v. empty rear). Also, the part numbers for the front coils from Toyota are different for the V8 than the V6. There are even different part numbers for the right and left coils!

My quesiton now is why do people prefer the front sit up .5-1" higher than the rear?

I believe there are 2 reasons :

Stock, the front has the lowest ground clearance.

A stock 4Runner has a rake (rear sits higher). Look at the gap from the top of the tire to the fenderl). Owners like to level the apperance.

Well I got it installed to day and I must saw it's AWSOME!!!! Can't wait till Wed. thats when the wife gets her days off so we can go test it out.

Just some advice to those looking to do this install the driver side rear spring before the passange side. I thought I would say this since I had not seen it in any of the others threads on there install. It took me from 10:30 until 3:00 and that was with gathering my supplies and cleaning up after. And I did must of it alone except I had a little troublee getting the left front in and need a little help from my neighbor's Dad. I had a great time doing it myself. Thanks to my fore-fathers who had installed and posted their progress it made it less of a challenge.

What OME part #'s did the total lift consist of? I couldn't tell by the boxes in your pics.

Wel I won't be taking them off just yet, though I would like to. I have a 2 year old daughter who uses them to get in and the wife likes to use them also. Maybe some sliders in the future after I sell the sport bumper trim.

As far as the set up I went with 884 springs with N140s struts in front and 895 springs with N142 shocks in the rear.

If you put the drive side in first you don't have to work against the force of the torsion bar. And I tried to put the right rear in first and I just couldn't get enough flex to put in the left rear. I removed the right rear and put in the left rear then I got the right rear in with no problem. I don't claim to be a mechanic but it worked for me. Thanks for the compliment one the rig, it's getting there.
