Older Scion Radios - any plug and play with no other connectors?

I have an LKQ parts yard near me that has plenty of older scions. No nice touch screen head units but older units. (There are also tons of camrys and carollas).

I want to upgrade the head unit in my 08 sport non-JBL. The CD changer doesn't work.

I want a plug and play that will do CD and has an aux out.

Are there any that simply plug straight in without any other connecors? The head units go for $34 which is my preference at the moment over a $300+ newer one.

I read through multiple threads and can't find a simple answer about plug and play.

not sure if you read this thread, but it has all the answers you need & shows numerous scion head units that are all plug & play for the non jbl stereo 4th gen 4runners. i have an 08 sport non jbl & will be upgrading to one of the 08-11 scion units.

I have read that thread and others in their entirety. While the information is there it is hard to pic through.

I have not found a single post stating a specific model is plug and play without any other adapters etc.

from what i read in that thread & others, ALL the scion units of that era are plug & play with 4th gen 4runners. its doesnt vary from year to year. thats the beauty of these scion conversions, they are a direct physical fit & are plug & play. the only difference or change thats needed is a 2 into 1 antenna plug since the 4runners use a dual antenna & the scion cars use a single. that adapter is listed by part# in the thread & is available on amazon or ebay for cheap.

when you get into the blue tooth or satelite & navigation stuff on later year models, then adapters or minor modifications are needed. but for the basic swap of the years shown up to the first bluetooth scion radio, to a non jbl 4runner its plug & play.

i like the scion radio in post #113, its a direct swap except for the antenna adapter, but will work without it & has RCA preouts. the one in post #107 is the first bluetoooth scion radio & i think that needs some mods & adapters to work.

Thanks for the info and post #'s. How does one then check which years / models they came in?

I guess the next thing is whether I like the looks of those but for how cheap they are it may work out.

i think the model #'s of the radios are mentioned for most of them... for example the bluetooth one is t1819, doing a ebay search for scion t1819 brings up a bunch of them. i think the years of scion cars that are popular up to the bluetoooth one are similar years to 4th gen 4runners. an 06-09 scion should be the decks right before & up to the bluetooth.

the scion decks are supposed to have a little more power than the 4runner ones & will sound quite a bit better than a stock 4runner deck, & with the rca pre outs you can hook up an amp/sub to other amps for main speakers. they wont sound as good as more expensive aftermarket decks but everyone that swapped them said the scions sound very good with the stock 4runner speakers.
