JayRolla said:Trim packer and spacer install on top of the coil. Once under compression you will get double the lift. So if you install 1.5 thick spacer you will get 3" lift. Unless you are intalling a .75" spacer which would be the 1.5" lift and how it would be advertised. Adding 10mm trim packer will be double lift of that packer also so 20mm in lift.
A couple months old but I'll give my two cents... I would think using the spacers with 1 10mm trim packer would be okay IF you have the rubber cone isolator that goes inside the coil spring. If not I would just use the 1.5" spacer.
I don't think I'm reading your post correctly. Why are you doubling the measurements? The OP is talking about the rear springs not front, is that what you're thinking?
I guess I was not thinking that post through to well. The rear is not under compression like the front so it wont double ride height with the spacer?
No, in the rear you get what you put in to it. So a 1.5" spacer gives you 1.5" of lift.

Hmm... that sounds bad.

Ha ha. Yeah, definitely could be taken the wrong way.
Thanks for this. I've already installed my FJ coils in the rear, and then on a separate occasion installed 2 yellow OME trim packers (2 per side.) Still not enough to match the Swayaway coilovers on the front so now I'm pulling the trim packers and throwing in the Daystar 1.5" rear spacers and putting 1 trim packer back on the driver side.
Question is, should the trim packer go:
1.) between the coil and bumpstop?
2.) between the bumpstop and spacer?
3.) between the spacer and body?
How she sits now. New wheels and tires sitting in my garage.......

Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with 4th gens. If that's what you're asking about. Do they have the upside down cone bump stop inside the coil? If so then put the 10mm spacer inbetween the coil and the cone.
Just my 2 cents. I had those spacers for about 2 days before I just bought the right springs. It rode like crap because you were already preloading the spring and it felt like the back end was skating around over bumps and potholes.
Like I said, just my 2 cents.
"Or should it be
Body>bumpstop>trimpackers>daystar>coil?
This would mean the trim packers are securely inside the cone instead of on the very top with the possibility of them sliding out.
I’m inclined to think that the daystar with its concave shaped groove should sit next to the coil. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I’d appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance."
^ this, although I wouldn't suggest two spacers. That looks like something might get squished out to one side after a while.
Thanks. I think i might need just one, or maybe none. With my new rear moog springs, I measure 0.25 inch less on both front and rear driver side at 1/2 tank. Should I still put trim packers? Or is this as good as it gets? I don’t mind the labor of trying it on, and then off. Just trying to get feedback and see what other folks are getting/expecting.
If you generally have weight in the back end I'd put one on. If not it's up to you.
Thanks for the response. Did you have daystar 1.5 inch spacers? What did you replace them with and how was the improvement? Did you also replace shocks?
