Just wanted to ask who is running what and the height it gave you. Im running the 861 and its just too much rake. Will either of the other coils be a little lower?

How much weight do you carry in the back? From your picture, it looks like you have a stock rear bumper? Usually the guys that run the 851/861/etc are carrying quite a bit of weight in the rear, which is why they go to those.

Also, do you have a current hub to fender measurement for the rear?

I think the 850 or 851s would either put you right around the same height, or a little higher.

Here's a good chart for you to take a look at if you haven't seen it already:

How many miles do you have on them? What are your front coils set to?

I've got a rear steel bumper, swingout with spare 35, & cargo drawers, along with the factory conical bumpstops on the 861's, and have just a slight rake with the front coils on the 2.5" perch on my bilsteins. It's great in my mind - much better than the LC coils I had previously, but if I still ran 285's and didn't have anything in the back, I would have kept those.

I've also heard that the 851's run just slightly taller, but jeff or dylan could confirm that for you.

I've got the 851's in the back right now and they provided roughly 2" over the LC 8.75 wraps, maybe closer to 1.5"

I have the 850J's sitting in the shop, I am probably going to be putting them on once my Sway-Away's arrive, I am skeptical as to how high it will be with them

Theyve got about 15K on them. There's also a 10mm trim packer i need to remove. The front is almost 40" ground to fender with 315's. So i need to turn them down a little and remove that trim packer

861's are going to be the shortest out of those. With stock weight, they gave me about 5.5 inches of lift. The 851's are about 6 inches and the 850's have't been tested AFAIK but probably be even taller since they are the HD version of the 851.

If you are looking to drop the rear a bit, the Toytec Superflex coils would probably the way to go. They are about 4 inches of rear lift with stock weight. With a trim packer, you would probably be close to 4.5 inches.

Wanted to bump thread instead of making a new one. So I got a Toytec Superflex. I feel like its sagging too much. I have a schrockwork rear tire carrier and stuff in my trunk. I plan on putting a drawer, subwoofers, and roof rack. Would a OME 861 or 851 be better for my application?

IMO, the 861's are ideal since they are a stock height, heavy spring rate landcruiser coil. The 851's are intended to provide a landcruiser with lift on top of that, so they will be super tall on our 4Runners.

Going from stock LC coils to the 861's, the on road manners improved substantially. With the weight of the dual swing out, the LC coils were way too soft and killed the already poor road manners of my 4Runner!

As shown, I'm at 4-4.5" lift in the rear and 2.5" lift in the front. My front fenders are trimmed 1.25" which makes it look taller in the front than it really is.

I had the superflex without the Shrockworks rear bumper and tire carrier, worked amazing and the flex/ride on and off road was awesome. When I got the Shrockworks rear bumper the superflex couldn’t handle the weight and would bottom out right away even over a speed bump.... now I’m running 851’s and have zero complaints. I’m also running dual compressors with an air tank back there, a hi-lift on the bumper and 2 gas tanks, also full skids, sliders and a roof rack. They flex like crazy and ride really well combined with the front range off road links, fully loaded I sometimes do hit bumps HARD over unexpected whoops in the desert but after I swapped the bumps for wheelers off road Tacoma rear bumps it honestly hits bumps really nicely. You can barely feel it!

6200 lbs. 861's or 850's?

I'm currently running LC 9 wrap blue/pink/white's (heaviest) and they're struggling hard to keep up with my weight. They are paired with adjustable Fox 2.0 w/ remote reservoirs, which I love. I have a heavy rig - CBI swing out with 33" tire and 2 jerry's, fridge w/ slide, drawer system, kitchen, 15 gallon H2O tank where the spare used to be, air tank, subwoofer, amp, lots of dynamat, 2 water pumps, yellow top, max trax, trasharoo, propane, lights, roof rack, and roof top tent - and that's just behind the rear axle. I would like to add skids and sliders, but I'm currently unable to handle the weight. With the family aboard, I'm pushing 6200 lbs!

Oh, and I just bought a trailer, so a couple hundred pounds of tongue weight on top of that.

I'm probably one of the heavier 'runners out there.

The debate is between 861's and 850's. I'm worried the 861's won't be enough. I'd love to hear some feedback from you guys with 861's on what you think I should do (besides buy a bigger rig!)

tylersphile Ur rig auto or manual... i'm assuming auto, u really need to b watching ur trans temps with that weight, had to do a # of things to get my rig to reliable handle high weight and still b decent for wheeling and traveling. Running OME2850 springs in the rear.

Manual, but fluid temps are definitely of concern! Thanks clearock

Fat behind

I've got a brand new set of 861s i might get rid of. I'm thinking of going with Dobinson 210s instead since I only have a bumper, swing out, full size spare, awning, sliders and skids. With that, the 861s might give me too much lift.

Have a couple pictures of your water tank set up? I'm getting ready to put a 10 gal water tank in the spare space.

wow, thats a lot of weight, impressed. I thought about building something almost as rigged and then thought about switching to a 99ish land crusier..
but then I just paired back on what all I need and want and wont be doing as much overlanding anymore just short little hops.
But really like your set up...you could go almost anyplace...real nice
