OME 906 W/trim packers.. or 890???

So I'm not real positive about my current 906 coils... I will like to either add two 10mm trim packers or possibly do a 890 to gain almost another inch.. I currently have 2 inch spacers on the front and will probably do the second perch with trd coils and tundra 5100 in the front to keep its current height but the rear currently sits .75 inches lower in the rear with the 906s. I like the stiffness of the 906 due to I will have weight in the back. Any first hand experiences between the two out there??

I started with the TRD/906. Within a year I switched to TRD second perch and the 890. I feel like it's the perfect lift if you still drive your truck a lot. Mine gets driven to work everyday. If you tow a lot I would get the 891. Just my opinion
 
What about 906 with air bags to help the rear when towing or really loaded?

Interested in where this goes. I've got TRDs on first perch with 906s in back. It sits level now(I think), but have recently questioned how to get a little more lift out of it.

Are you currently running the Tundra 5100s? You know that Bilstein came out with 5100s for the 3rd gen about a year ago right. Remember, the Tundra 5100s were valved and tuned for the Tundra which is a significantly different vehicle. That alone is going to make your 4runner ride like crap. Not to mention the spacers you are adding aren't going to help the situation as well as reduce your travel because you are adding pre-load to the spring. I know people do this kind of stuff all the time but if you are looking for performance and not just looks, you should stick with the 3rd gen 5100s and go with the 906s in the rear. The 3rd gen 5100s were specifically designed for this spring and will give you a 2.5 in lift with no rake. Keep the front stock springs as the 5100 fronts were designed to utilize the stock spring. You will not get much more comfort in the ride by switching out the front spring. And the ride height is controlled by the groove setting on the shock.

As for going to 890s or 891s in the rear, that's your choice. The spring is a little softer but adds about an inch of lift on top the 906s. The 906s will hold more load without sagging as much don't give as much lift. Basically what it all comes down to is whether you are going for performance or looks. Performance, do what I am saying here. Looks, do whatever you want cause once you start to care more about looks, you are just going to start sacrificing performance. FYI the "3rd gen" rear 5100 are the tundra 5100s. Same part number stamped on there.

Do you have a side view of this setup??? With the front on second perch and rear 890 coils??? And maybe a hub to fender measurements? Below is my current setup. 906 rear with 5100. The front still has stock with ~2.5 inch spacers. I like the height in the front so thatspacer why I wanna do 2nd perch when I install these trd coils. As you can see it currently sits about .75" to 1" lower in the rear and I want more of a leveled out look with some stiffness so the 891 may be my go to.

No they are not. Tube and piston rod for the tundra are longer, has more travel and has completely different valving. That is why they designed a different shock for the 3rd gen.

Odd that they have the same part number then... but plenty of people and a guy I know has had them and they were all happy and mine rides fine lol

Not sure where you are getting your info from but if you go to the Bilstein Online Catalog, these are the part numbers. Clearly different. People have been happy with using the Tundra and FJ 5100s on 3rd gen prior to the release of the 3rd Gens, but if you rode both you can clearly notice a significant improvement in the 3rd Gens. Unfortunately prior to the release of the 3rd Gens (which took 15 years!!!) this is what you had to do and accept it if you wanted Bilsteins. But thankfully they finally decided to release these shocks and I couldn't be happier.

You ever get a pic? I just installed trd coils on 2nd perch and it's exactly 1inch higher than the rear with 906s

I agree.. I'm not a huge fan of any rake but a slight bit won't hurt. I put my trd on second perch and love the height. But I'm exactly an inch lower in the rear with 906s
