OME BP-51 Suspension System -- Anyone yet?

I currently have Icon stage 1.... it rides nice, but at a measly 5,000 miles, both front struts are leaking. I'm thinking about replacing it with the bp51 kit. (I'll get them rebuilt and sell them).

So, on a trail w/kdss, the only issue is the bracket for the resi? Any news on that?

Really disappointed in the icon issue. I read nothing but glowing reviews until I specifically looked for leaking struts. Common issue it seems. Rebuilding it is cheap, but with a daily driver, I can't have it sitting on blocks for a week.

The issue that ARB is working on effects only traditional sway bar 4Runners.

Also, ARB is making a new bracket for the drivers side front BP51 Remote Reservoir. Right now the KDSS plumbing gets in the way. Installation can still happen utilizing 1 of the 2 bolt holes and reversing the direction of the Remote Reservoir Bracket.

I have the BP51's installed on a 2015 TE with KDSS. Rides amazing. I chose not to install Icons for the leaking issues.

BP51's ride amazing and have a 3 year 40,000 mile warranty.

Build quality is amazing and I was able to install the reservoir bracket. The only issue that needed to be addressed was the drivers side mount. I reversed the bracket and it bolted up utilizing one of the bolts. Works great and no issues. I used heavy duty zip ties to ensure the bracket doesn't pivot due to only one bolt hole being used. It did the trick.

BP's ride amazing on the freeway, going over speed bumps, brake dive has been eliminated, and on dirt trails it is simply smooth! Feel free to ask me any questions or PM me if you wanna call me if it's easier.

How easy (or not) is it to adjust the height on the installed coilovers? Is there a spanner wrench to crank up or down the height?

I had it adjusted at a local shop. OME recommends the adjustment of the coilover be accomplished while the spring is compressed to remove all tension. I had it adjusted from 20mm of preload (made for Diesel Prado with Steel Bumper and Winch Approx 500 lbs of extra weight) down to 12mm of preload to give me about 2.5 inches of lift from the stock ride height of a 4Runner TE w/ KDSS.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a little confused... The spring needs to be removed to adjust height? For example, if you get the "KDSS Lean" and you have to crank up the driver's side; you'd have to remove the shock to increase the mm?

Not removed. After you unbox the coilover assembly that OME sends you, you take that coilover assembly to an off road shop to have them squeeze the spring while it is attached to the coilover assembly. Then they loosen the top adjusting ring and then spin the ring (by hand since there is no load on that ring) to the desired height. Lock that adjusting ring in place and then the adjustment is complete.

Then the entire coilover assembly is ready to install on the vehicle!

I've driven a 4Runner with Bilstein 5100's as well as a stock TRD Pro. The OME BP51's are a great performance upgrade over both that is well engineered and look amazing in the wheel wells of the 4Runner! I was hesitant to order but after I made the upgrade I have been so impressed!! 4Runner feels very solid now both on the highway and on the trails!!
 
First post but have been lurking for a while. Have a 2016 TE (wife's ride). I've been eagerly anticipating the release of the BP-51 kit for the 4Runners. Is it finally out yet?

Not specifically for the 4Runner. Right now you can buy the FJ Cruiser kit and make it fit the 4Runner.

They still have not released it specifically for the 4Runner but if you go back and read this thread you'll see several members are running the FJ version of the suspension on thier 5th gens.

Interesting [MENTION=131706]Dogtown[/MENTION]. Do you mean tell the difference between the current FJ BP-51 kit or tell the difference between the BP-51s and the stock TRD pro suspension?

I'm guessing the former, but wanted to hear your thoughts if you meant the latter.
