OME BP-51 Suspension System -- Anyone yet?

Any idea on the rebuild interval for these? It seems like Icons require lots of maintenance, was hoping these might be better.

Stock upper control arms and no leaning to either side. I adjusted the coil top hat from 20mm of exposed threads to 12mm on both the drivers side and the passenger side. They come from the factory assembled for a Prado with a Diesel engine, bumper, and winch. That's at least 400 lbs of weight up front over the stock 4Runner.

How did you go about making the adjustment? I tried by loosing the bolt on the collar and moving it but it didn't budge.
Do I need to use a spring compressor?

I took it to a reputable shop with a quality spring compressor. They squeezed the spring and adjusted it within 20 mins. I used a paint marker and painted the thread that I wanted them to adjust to. Less chance they muck it up! I was charged $40 and it was well worth it. Also, use blue painters tape to wrap the remote reservoir so they don't damage it while they are handling it. Not everyone cares about being careful

A local shop told me ARB recommends rebuild at 70,000 miles. Haven't seen it in print though.

They have a 3 year 40,000 mile warranty. A lot will depend on how you use it and how often you clean them to prevent buildup on the exposed shaft and seals.

Spent some time wrenching on the 4runner. Don't like the way the driver side reserve is mounted. Need to call about that.

Set the preload on the front to 15mm. I have an SSO front bumper and warn zeon platinum 10s ready to go up front.

Yeah, that seems off. Let us know what they say. I won't be pulling the trigger in these for a few more months so perhaps we'll have an official bracket by then.

I bought this kit back in March of this year. I kind of knew it wasn't right. I'll see if they have a solution or fab one myself.

Sorry for being naive, but what is the issue with the drive side mounting?

it is outside the frame rail, whereas on the passenger side the resi sits on top of the frame. I don't have this kit and haven't seen one in person, but it looks like there may be a chance of hitting it at full lock when stuffed, or there is always the possibility of hitting it with debris. all and all, the passenger side appears to be much better protected.

Gotcha. Thanks.

It doesn't make contact at all with the tire. It's mainly not as tucked away on the frame rail on the drivers side when compared to the passenger side. KDSS plumbing lines on the drivers side are the reason for the drivers side reservoir bracket not being as tucked away on the frame rail as it is on the passenger side.

It looks as though there is space in front of the wheel on the frame as opposed to trying to mount it in the rear. Is that not a viable option?

Update

Just got off the phone with a tech at ARB, he said they had the truck up on the racks today working on the bracket, but still no timeline for release. He mentioned that they have been working on stuff for the Tacoma for release at SEMA and that has been taking up a bunch of time (IDGAF, I WANT MY LIFT)!!

IMPORTANTLY, HE MENTIONED THAT FOR MODELS WITH KDSS, the 4runner specific kit will have different struts...something I wasn't aware of. Not really sure why that will be the case, but I trust that they are doing it for a good reason. He also mentioned that if I was going to order now, to make sure to let them know that my model had KDSS and to ask for the PRADO version...not really sure what that means...but I guess that will work better with the KDSS.

Not even close to an expert when it comes to these things, but thought I would share in hopes that maybe someone can clarify and everyone interested will be better informed. I decided no matter what, I'm going to put these on my new 2016 TEP that is coming in two weeks (PUMPED) over the Icon stage 2...just seems like way more bang for the buck and the OME lift I had on my FJ served me well.

I keep holding my breath for the official 4Runner units to b released and more so since mine has kdss. Looks as though I'll have to wait longer or buy something else.

patience.... the 4R or LC100 is the next logical toyota to get design for a Toyota, so it's coming and with SEMA coming up, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to have them debuted there... This would make them avaialble for purchase for potentially black friday and christmas which is perfect timing from a marketing perspective. Whether we like it or not the Snorkel probably also falls into this category. I'd bet we see it debut at SEMA this year.

If the only difference is a bracket then I find it hard to believe that it takes this long to redesign a single bracket for one side of the 4Runner. I mean, someone with metalworking skills could do this in a few hours..or less and we've been waiting how long?

I really like the king reservoir bracket locations.

I dislike that the front apron needs to be removed for the current location of the bp-51 reservoir. I wouldn't want a shoehorn fit for the price of this kit. And it's completely inconsistent with the otherwise fine fit and finish if the components.

As far as different struts for the KDSS, it's possible that the reservoir lines will be a different length to reach a similar mounting location as the king brackets that are compatible with KDSS.
